Former Senate president Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has urged governments at all levels to create a good healthcare system as the world celebrates the 2023 World Health Day (WHD).
Saraki in a statement said he understands that a good healthcare system is crucial for everyone’s well-being.
He stated that this is why, as Governor of Kwara State, he started the Community Health Insurance Scheme for citizens of his home state.
As Senate president, Saraki said he and his fellow lawmakers passed a clause in the budget that guaranteed that 1% of the Consolidated Revenue Fund was allocated to healthcare spending.
He praised health practitioners for the job that they carry out in society while urging everyone to aim for a great healthcare system.
“We must also appreciate the hard work of medical professionals who save lives every day,” Saraki said.
“If we work together, we can create a healthcare system that gives good care to everyone at a reasonable price. Let’s aim for that in the future!.” (Guardian)
