The Federal government has announced the commencement of the Phase 2 of the Covid-19 lockdown.
Speaking today at the press briefing of the Presidential Task Force, Boss Mustapha, SGF said the President has received recommendations and indicated that the country will allow “science and data” to determine how the nation responds to the Covid-19 pandemic as it concerns full easing of the lockdown.
In his speech, he noted that the battle against “Covid-19 is still a fight for life and our advancement to Phase 2 does not mean that Covid-19 has ended. I implore all Nigerians to take responsibility and play their expected roles to protect all of us.”
Key take aways from the briefing include the following:
1. The phase 2 of Covid-19 lock down will last for 4 weeks from June 2 to June 29.
2. All schools to remain closed.
3. Students registered for terminal exams like WEAC etc to wait until end of Phase 2.
4. Domestic air travel to resume any time from June 21.
5. Interstate travel remains restricted.
6. Places of worship to re- open within guidelines
7. Continous mandatory use of non medical face mask in public places
8. Total lockdown eased in Kano state.
9. Mandatory hand washing protocol and use of sanitizers in public.
10. Hotels to re-open but restaurants remain closed for eat-in customers except restaurants within hotels.
