It was a different Jesus I saw in the video from a Facebook link sent to me by my friend. An Onyeze Jesus who must have been taken thoroughly shaken and made to go through the eye of the needle to renounce his ‘bad influence’ on Anambrarians in particular and Nigerians in general.
Few weeks back, Onyeze Jesus was loud and boisterous; he was boastful and confident he could turn the fortunes of ordinary Nigerians; he could wash away the stink of poverty and raise the dead.
Then Anambra state panicked and looks like they were quick to see the charlatan for who he truly is; they caged the rampaging prophet and taught him a few lessons we may never know about.
Lo and behold, Onyeze Jesus recanted. He is no longer boastful and telling everyone who cares to watch his video that he would make them rich and add no sorrows; instead, it is a most apologetic Jesus, profusely telling the Anambra state government and the Central Bank of Nigeria that he meant no harm when his video of naked babies bathing in the muddy river went viral weeks back.
He meant no harm disrespecting the Nigerian currency when he flung same into the muddy waters and over the bare buttocks of those washing away their poverty in the river.
No. We got it all wrong, he said.
He claimed he wasn’t the one who posted the videos; as it was being handled by other people he had no control over…he even told us he had deleted same and even though a few of us had copied it.
Onyeze Jesus also claimed he wasn’t wasting the 50naira notes he was spraying into the water, “in fact, they were not even up to N1000,” he says, reminding us he wasn’t flaunting any law but that those who meant to do evil read negative meanings into his actions.
It is a sober, and less enthusiastic Jesus in this new video; aww, what a shame.
I must say I was rather disappointed in Jesus, unlike his better known namesake, Jesus didn’t recant even after being scourged. He went through fire and remained true, this our small version saw small fire and he’s doing another video of apology, haba!
That means he doesn’t believe in his own messages. He lied…(well we know he did…) but all it took was one prison visit and Jesus renounced his earlier position like a recalcitrant school boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
I wonder now what his teaming congregation would do?
Continue to follow a Jesus intimidated by prison or continue with a repentant Jesus? Some people just can’t help being drawn to falsehood.
So maybe we truly should be grateful the Anambra state government for clipping Jesus’ wings. By arresting him and jailing him; they have done a number of people a great favour because by now, Jesus would have made several more videos supporting his earlier claims.
Well, kudos to the state government on this one, hopefully…hopefully, those waiting in the wings to deceive people will take a cue, those garbed in robes of ‘holiness’ speaking christanese with lying tongues will learn.
