Several people were injured, while others are still missing following a tragic boat accident that occurred on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Vanguard gathered that two unregistered passenger boats collided in the middle of the lagoon near Imore Town, Lagos.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police Command said the mishap resulted in the capsizing of both boats, each carrying 16 passengers, leaving several people injured and others missing. Read more

Nigeria’s capital importation reached $2.60bn in the second quarter of 2024, representing a robust increase of 152.81 per cent year-on-year compared to $1.03bn in Q2 2023.
This is according to the latest capital importation report from the National Bureau of Statistics released on Tuesday.

Prostitute stabs man to death in Lagos (Nation)
A 48-year-old man, identified as Okafor, was yesterday reportedly stabbed to death by a prostitute in his residence at Jakande Housing Estate, Lekki, Lagos.
According to the police report, Okafor was attacked by a woman identified as Joy Kelvin, about 5:30 a.m. He had brought her home the night before.
The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim during an altercation, leaving him critically injured. Read more
Flooding: Senate demands immediate dredging of River Niger, Benue (Channels)
The Senate has asked President Bola Tinubu to direct the Immediate dredging of Rivers Niger and Benue, as part of preventive methods against flooding and facilitate its inclusion into the 2025 budget.
The Upper legislative chamber adopted the resolution following a motion moved by Sen. Amos Yohanna on the urgent need for intervention in the Humanitarian crisis caused by Flooding in Adamawa North Senatorial district.
It would be recalled that in 2024, the Senate had at an emergency session equally resolved to facilitate the inclusion of the dredging of River Benue, River Niger, and other river projects in the 2024 Appropriation Bill. The removal followed the expiration of notices served to the occupants.

Senate urges Ondo to evaluate, address state flooding issues (Nation)
The Senate on Tuesday, October 8, urged the Ondo state government to conduct an urgent on-the-spot-assessment of the flooding which frequently occurs in the areas with a view to finding a lasting solution to the menace.
The Senate also called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), to immediately, mobilise relief materials for the people displaced by the devastating flood in Ondo West Local Government Area in Ondo State.

The Nobel committee said John Hopfield, of Princeton University, created an associative memory that can store and reconstruct images and other types of patterns in data while Geoffrey Hinton, of the University of Toronto, invented a method that can autonomously find properties in data and perform tasks such as identifying specific elements in pictures.
“The laureates’ work has already been of the greatest benefit,” Ellen Moons, chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics, said in a statement. “In physics, we use artificial neural networks in a vast range of areas, such as developing new materials with specific properties.” Read more

A former WWE employee who filed a lawsuit against the company and ex-leader Vince McMahon, accusing him of sexual battery and trafficking, is asking them to not enforce nondisclosure agreements with other former and current employees and contractors so they can potentially come forward with similar accusations.
A lawyer for Janel Grant emailed a letter making the request late Monday to attorneys representing WWE, McMahon and John Laurinaitis, a former WWE executive and wrestler, in Grant’s lawsuit against them.
A spokesperson for McMahon, Curtis Vogel, declined to comment. Lawyers for WWE and Laurinaitis did not immediately return emails seeking comment late Monday. Emails to the WWE and its parent companies, Endeavor Group Holdings and its subsidiary, TKO Group Holdings, also were not returned immediately. Read more

Sky Sports News understands the Premier League rejects the notion in Cliff’s letter, which claims “several inaccuracies” exist in the Premier League’s summary of the tribunal’s findings.
