Man accused of stealing N80, 000 from bread seller for betting (Nation)
The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 20-year-old man, Prosper Okeke, who allegedly stole N80, 000 from a bread seller and spent all on betting game and lost.
Okeke, who lives at No 1, Samuel St., Ogudu, is facing a count charge of stealing, but he pleaded not guilty.
According to the Prosecutor, Insp. Lucky Ihiehie, Okeke stole the money kept under the bed by Mrs Pricilla Kanu, on Feb. 28, at No. 45, Gafari St., Ogudu. Read more
Sexagenarian remanded for armed robbery in Lagos (Punch)
A 61-year-old man, Rotimi Ariremako, has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly belonging to an armed robbery gang that reportedly stole a bus filled with goods valued at N15m.
Ariremako, whose residential address was not given, was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on two counts bordering on armed robbery.
The police prosecutor, Michael Unah, told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on November 9, 2018. Read more
Dad remanded for alleged sexual abuse of daughter (Nation)
An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 38-year-old electrician, Chukwueke Ashiedu, following his arraignment for allegedly defiling his 17-year-old daughter.
He will be in custody, pending advice by Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat adjourned till April 25 for the advice after declining to take the defendant’s plea. Read more
Travel agent allegedly defrauds man seeking Qatari visa of N1.1m (Punch)
For allegedly defrauding one Ikechukwu Onuaha of N1.1m, a supposed travel agent, Amarachi Ogbuchi, has been arraigned before the Ogba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The 37-year-old Ogbuchi allegedly duped the complainant on the pretext of helping him to procure a Qatari visa.
Ogbuchi was arraigned on three counts of fraud, forgery and stealing, to which she pleaded not guilty. Read more
Housewife accused of stabbing worker (Nation)
A 32-year-old housewife, Ruth Emehelu, was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stabbing a 15-year-old domestic worker with a knife.
The police charged Emehelu with assault.
Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ezekiel Ayorinde said the defendant committed the offence in January at her home. Read more
Thrift collector arrested for allegedly defrauding firm (Punch)
A thrift collector, Oluwaseun Omogiade, has been arrested by the police for allegedly defrauding the firm she works for.
Omogiade was arrested after the Director of Kuba Security and Investment Company Limited, Raymond Uba, reported the fraud at the Meiran Police Station in Lagos State.
Punch Metro gathered that Omogiade, who works as a treasury executive in the firm and whose job is to collect thrift contributions from customers and remit same to the company, allegedly collected N970,000 from customers without remitting it to the firm. Read more
Man in court for attempting to stab commercial sex worker (Nation)
A 23-year-old man, Sanusi Sheu, accused of allegedly attempting to stab a Commercial Sex Worker (CSW) to death, on Tuesday appeared in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The police charged Sheu with attempted murder.

Man docked for absconding with N200, 000 loan (Nation)
A 38-year-old trader, Olamide Yusuf, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly absconding with a N200, 000 loan he took from a micro finance company.
Yusuf, who resides in Agege area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretences and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Josephine Ikhayer, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in June 2016 in Abule-Egba, Lagos. Read more
