‘She’s going to be the next lettuce’: PM and Badenoch clash

Sir Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch continue their back and forth over the government’s plans for growing the UK economy.

The prime minister says Labour is the “coalition of builders” but the opposition is the “coalition of blockers”.

Ms Badenoch reminds Sir Keir that his chancellor Rachel Reeves opposed the ยฃ150m expansion of Leeds-Bradford Airport, close to her own constituency of Leeds West & Pudsey, in 2020.

“They are hypocrites,” she says.

Criticising the employment bill, the Tory leader says it’s “terrible for business, but it is great employment for laywers.”

“I know the prime minister loves the legal profession, but he needs to stop being a lawyer and start being a leader,” she adds.

Sir Keir responds by rebuking a point about employment law from Ms Badenoch that “anybody who understands anything about employment law” would have not made.”We know she’s not a lawyer,” he says. “She’s clearly not a leader. If she keeps up like this, she is going to be the next lettuce.” (Skynews)
