Nigerian musician, Simi’s Nobody Like Woman Challenge, which reportedly started last week, has taken over social media.
Many females including celebrities like actresses Osas Ighodaro, Tonto Dikeh, singer Seyi Shey, and popular dancer, Kaffy, amongst others have come out to participate in the challenge with Simi making reposts on her Instagram page.
This challenge has enabled many women to share the mean, hurtful and derogatory things that have been said about them including the labels, stereotypes and misconceptions the female gender have suffered.
The ”Duduke” crooner shared a post on her Instagram page today commending and encouraging women who have been bold enough to share their insecurities and challenges.
The post reads: “The reason many, many women are so strong today is that they’ve had to defy the things that were designed to make them weak. Stereotypes. Shame. Fear. Pain. Abuse.
I respect the strength and courage it has taken many women in these past few days to be VULNERABLE enough to confront the things that people have said to them to poke at their insecurities and to demean them.
Many of you have defied the status quo changed the narrative. You are brave, you are strong. You are WOMAN. And there’s nobody like you.”
The mother of one and wife to popular singer, Adekunle Gold, hopes moving forward, people become conscious of their words and that they learn to support and protect vulnerable women.
She also shared her new single, “Woman”, will be released in less than 12 hours.
