Spanish rally car co-driver Laura Salvo has died in a crash at the Rally Vidreiro Centro de Portugal.
The 21-year-old was navigating for Miguel Socias when their car veered off the road and hit a pine tree.
Medics arrived at the scene within two minutes and Salvo was taken to an area where an emergency helicopter could land and transport her to hospital.
However, while initial attempts to resuscitate her were successful she suffered a cardiac arrest and died before she arrived at a medical facility.
The Portuguese rally has now been abandoned in the wake of Salvo’s death. (Metro)
