Mrs Ambode cries out over impersonation by cyber fraudster
Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode on Tuesday distanced herself from the criminal activities of a certain individual posing as her representative to extort money from unsuspecting members of the public.
Mrs. Ambode, in a statement Tuesday signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs of her office, Mrs. Folashade Kadiri, said the unknown individual has been utilising social media platforms to disguise as her representative to defraud people, alerting Nigerians to be wary of such entreaties from any person.
The statement read, “The attention of Her Excellency, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, wife of the Governor of Lagos State, has been drawn to the criminal activities of a certain individual, masquerading as her representative, for the purpose of exhorting money from unsuspecting persons, using the social media platform. Lagos spare parts dealer kills lover, stuffs corpse in bin (Punch)
The romance of a Lagos couple has come to a tragic end after the man, Isaiah Chukwu, allegedly killed his lover, identified only as Joy.
Punch Metro learnt that Chukwu and Joy, both indigenes of Ebonyi State, had been living together for the past two years without formalising the relationship. Chukwu, a spare parts dealer in Ladipo, Oshodi, allegedly killed the 26-year-old at their residence on Balogun Street, Oshodi.
He was said to have stuffed her corpse into a bin, which he put in a sack. Our correspondent gathered that the 35-year-old tied up the deceased’s legs and knotted the top of the sack. Read more

A pastor with the Ajagbandi branch of a white garment church, Prophet Dominic Daniel, has been arrested in connection with the death of a female worshipper in the church premises, weekend.
Arrested alongside the prophet was the deceased’s lover, Ifeanyi Eyinna, who took her to the church for healing. The deceased, Ramat Audu, who lived with her lover at Iya Lekan Street in Shibiri area of Lagos, was rushed to the church by her lover when she fell ill.
A prayer session was conducted during which the 34-year-old prophet administered some concoction to the ailing lady. She reportedly slumped in front of the church after taking the concoction. Read more
Mob rescues woman from suspected kidnappers, ritualists (Nation)
A mob yesterday rescued a 22-year-old woman, Abidemi Omoniyi, from a gang of suspected kidnappers, ritualists at Agege, Lagos. Omoniyi, a front desk officer at a hotel in Omole Phase I, boarded an unpainted taxi around 7am at Egbatedo Bus Stop enroute Pen Cinema.
The woman, who said she started screaming as soon as she realised she joined a wrong vehicle, told reporters that the driver, Emeka Okeke his accomplices told her she would be taken to Ibadan where a customer was waiting to buy her vital organs.
She said: “I had opted for the vehicle because there were too many people at the bus stop and no tricycle was going to Pen Cinema. So when the vehicle came and said the fare was N100, I just joined it. Read more
Police arrest 73-year-old for raping, impregnating girl, 14 (Punch)
The police in Lagos have arrested a 73-year-old man, Fola Olowoigbo, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old and impregnating her.
The suspect was said to be a neighbour of the victim’s mother who lived on Fella Ahmed Street, Agric, Ikorodu, Lagos State. The police said the septuagenarian took advantage of the girl on the pretext of sending her on errands.
The bubble reportedly burst when the victim’s mother observed that she was pregnant and after pestering her, she said Olowoigbo was responsible for the pregnancy. Read more

An 18-year-old girl, who is a victim of sexual abuse, yesterday told an Ikeja Special Offence and Domestic Violence Court, Lagos, that her father, Folorunso Oluwaseun (52), had sexual intercourse with her for four years in order to enhance her private parts.
Testifying before Justice Sybil Nwaka, the victim (name withheld) said that the sexual abuse began when she was 12 while she was living with him at their Ikorodu residence in Lagos. While being led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel, Babajide Boye, she said: “I was staying with my father with my four other siblings (two boys and two girls) in a room apartment.
My father called me and said that my breasts were not as big as those of my mates and that he would help me suck them with his mouth so that they can get bigger. “I was in JSS 3 when he started. He asked me to sleep with him on the bed and he began to suck my breasts. Read more
Mother blames Lagos hospital for son’s illness (Punch)
A woman, Ms. Victoria Abimbola, has accused the management of the Ikorodu General Hospital of causing her son’s cerebral palsy condition, saying careless handling of her delivery and subsequent overdose of a drug damaged her child, Daniel.
Abimbola said efforts to get assistance from the state government to remedy the damage had been ignored, adding that she had been frustrated. The 42-year-old woman told our correspondent that she went into labour at the hospital around 9pm on January 12, 2010, when the incident happened. Read more
Man seeking business boom defrauded of N4.7m by herbalists (Punch)
Five suspected herbalists have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly swindling a businessman out of N4.7m.
The suspects – Idowu Olofin, 32; Korede Akomolafe, 30; Temitope Oluyemi, 43; Wale Onifade, 36; and Seun Fabusola, 28 – allegedly collected the sum from the unidentified complainant on the pretext of solving his spiritual problem and making his business boom.
Punch Metro learnt that the suspects allegedly hypnotised the victim, took him to a beach and collected the money from him. They were said to have committed the crime on May 3 around 9.30am at Alpha Beach, Ajah. Read more
We’re not involved in toll gate clash – Seven-UP (Punch)
The Management of Seven-Up Bottling Company Limited has distanced the company from a fight on the Mobolaji Johnson Avenue, Alausa, Ikeja, during which some officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were injured.
The company said its workers did not fight the traffic officials, adding that those arrested by the police were workers of another company. Punch Metro had reported that some trucks, which LASTMA claimed belonged to 7-UP, blocked the road and created a gridlock on Saturday. The state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who was reported to have been held in the jam, directed officials to resolve the traffic. Read more

One Michael Thompson, a medical doctor who turned his back on his practice of saving lives to become an international hacker, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
The medical doctor turned hacker, who had been on the police wanted list, was finally arrested after he hacked into a businessman’s account and swiping off N28million. Admitting to the crime, Williams who was paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, yesterday, said: “I am the most notorious Nigerian Internet hacker.
The police are not lying. I am a professional medical doctor. “I have worked in Tolu Medical Centre and at the Eko medical hospital. But when I had a programme that would have enhanced my job, I was denied of the opportunity by my employer. Read more
