Yakubu Dogara, the Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for conducting a peaceful senatorial bye-election on Saturday.
Dogara said the election was peaceful and that is an indication that INEC would be capable of conducting the 2019 election.
Dogara, while speaking with journalists at his hometown, Gwarangah, Bogoro LGA Bauchi state said, “I am impressed by the arrangement put in place by INEC because as at now, there is no news of violence or irregularities throughout the bye-election in almost all the seven LGAs in the state.”
He admitted that initially, there was poor turn out of voters, attributing same to the farming season.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the voting pattern.
