It looks like Steve Babaeko’s groundbreaking manifesto made a great impression as he has been elected the new President of the Association of Advertising Agencies Nigeria (AAAN).
Last week, Steve Babaeko announced his intention to run for the post of president of the association via a Twitter post saying, ‘It is Time!’. Following the announcement, a number of advertising practitioners and industry enthusiasts have shown their support and eagerness for his tenure.
According to his manifesto, available on his website, Steve Babaeko plans to revolutionise the association and is focusing on certain key areas. Here are the three game-changers we’re looking forward to:
Women Empowerment
Top on the list of Steve Babaeko’s advancement program is to ensure gender balance in the leadership of AAAN. While the world is encouraging conversations about women empowerment, there is no better time than now to give women more opportunities to contribute their unique talents in their respective fields. Steve Babaeko believes that women participation will go a long way in the advancement of the AAAN.
Standardise the AAAN
The AAAN was formed in 1973 by a group of visionary ad practitioners who came together to chart a revolutionary new path for the advertising industry. Since its inception, the association has come a long way. It is Steve Babaeko’s belief that there is an opportunity to build the AAAN to an irresistible world-class standard, worthy of envy. By creating a standard advertising academy to foster the growth of talent available in the country, to giving the LAIF Awards the international accolades it deserves, Steve plans to use these means and more to ensure that the AAAN becomes an association that advertising practitioners can be proud of.
Work Hand-In-Hand With APCON
Recognising the crucial role of the chief regulatory advertising body, the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Steve Babaeko believes that it is in the association’s best interest to work hand-in-hand with and influence the body to better enforce the laws and policies that protect the Advertising industry. In addition to this, Steve plans to ensure that the association is more visible to the government and in the lives of fellow advertising practitioners, especially when it comes to protecting common interests.
Considering the plans Steve Babaeko has for the AAAN, we simply cannot wait for him to take the reins as he takes advertising practitioners towards advancement!
