He was just about to turn 50 and she was just 21!
Life had just begun for both of them on different levels; he, turning the golden age and still attracting the attention of a young woman; she, as fine as she is, young and fresh able to command the attention of a rich and powerful man willing to spend so much on her…yes, life had just begun.
If you’ve seen Chidinma Ojukwu’s social media photos, you will see that she slays! She is a pretty little thing few men can resist; even I, being a woman was impressed by her looks from the photos shared on WhatsApp. She knows what she has and how to use it for what she wants.
But I have a child her age and so was deeply moved when I read reports that she was the one who murdered the Super TV CEO. What would possess a child like this to murder?
Chidinma is a wild child. Even her father had no idea of what she’d been up to. Truth is, how many of us know what our children are up to, these days?
For four months, things were rosy for Usifo and Chidinma; he got sex on demand, she got cash on request…they did drugs, they did booze, they smoked strong things and they did sex. What more could an individual ask for?
Then things went south!
She said he wanted more sex that day and she didn’t as per the earlier one they had was bad for her. Me thinks Chidinma didn’t get the memo: sex with a sugar daddy isn’t meant to be fun, it’s a transaction, he huffs and puffs to blow you out, you endure to cash out!
But let’s digress.
The sad story of the late CEO of Super TV, Usifo Ataga is replete with pain. From what I’ve gleaned so far, Usifo could be described as a rising star. He’d worked hard to leave the slums and make habitation among the rich and restless in Banana Island. So, if anything was going to snuff life out of him, it shouldn’t be this slip of a girl, this ‘poor’ girl, literally and figuratively, from the slums of Alagomeji, who should end it…over what?
Sex that he could’ve had with more sophisticated call girls?
Forgive me but this is not casting aspersions on the late Usifo Ataga!
Far be from me to do that.
There are men of Ataga’s ilk, who’ve done worse…men who do threesome, foursome…drugs, illicit sex…upstairs, downstairs, bedroom, kitchen…and they get away with it!
But that didn’t happen to Mr. Usifo Ataga; he’d probably done everything by the book before then. Had probably stuck with his wife, rumours say otherwise, but who’s checking, he’d probably been diligent at work, was generous to the church and community and the one thing he wanted for himself, just to tell himself he had done well…have a fling, a careless fling, nothing serious, after all, men do it all the time…he was turning fifty, so he wanted something quiet, out of the prying eyes of his neighbours on Banana Island…you know.
Then boom! Chidinma got angry, she didn’t want the coins he was shelling out, she wanted more money, even though he gave her his ATM, telling her to go make withdrawals, she was still mad enough to stab him several times. I hear someone say, it was in self defense, let the judge do his work.
This sort of report is damaging not just to the memory of Usifo Ataga but to his wife, kids, siblings, parents, friends! Usifo is now a parody, have you seen the WhatsApp posts on airbnb?
All his loved ones want now is to forget about him; to forget how he died…it’s annoying, it’s painful and so, they just want it all to go away…this is Usifo Ataga dying again!
Chidinma is no victim here, she is an adult, a consenting adult for that matter; she drew blood, saw him slump after several stab wounds and still went ahead to make withdrawals on his account.
That’s the motive for murder!
Money!
But hey! Are we, the rest of us, saints?
No. It’s only the dog caught with shit in its mouth that is labelled a shit eater. What has been hidden before now is splashed all over the internet! We are all judges, all acting like we could’ve done better.
I feel sorry for the tarnished memory of this man; this rising star; I am deeply saddened for his wife as I imagine her thoughts will be as wild and painful.
Will she mourn a husband who died in the hands of a mistress?
What conversations took place between them that very day? There would be other scenarios that would pop up in her mind, scenarios she would query…
What of his children? The internet never forgets…will some snooty kid remind them of how their father died in 2021?
His friends and family will forever remember he died a needless death.
All they would want is for him to be buried and forgotten. His labour, his life would mean nothing as it has been tainted by the manner of his death. Who wants to keep that kind of memory alive?
Chidinma will pay for this. Whether she had accomplices or not, she is ruined for life…
