Lalu Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has filed for divorce from his wife Aishwarya Rai.
Tej Pratap, who was health minister in the grand alliance government, is an MLA from Mahua in Vaishali district.
He filed for divorce in Patna court on Friday (November 2). He married Aishwarya on May 12 this year.
Aishwarya also comes from a political family. Her grandfather Daroga Rai was a former chief minister of Bihar while her father Chandrika Rai is a former minister and a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader.
The news of their separation comes months after speculation first rose of Aishwarya joining politics.
Ahead of RJD’s foundation day in July, Aishwarya’s image could be seen along with her husband and Lalu’s elder son Tej Pratap, his brother Tejashwi, the former CM, his wife Rabri Debi and other important party leaders in posters and banners dotting Patna, triggering speculations of her being fielded from Chapra in the 2019 general elections.
