Nigeria singer Temilade Openiyi, a songwriter popularly known as Tems has released her latest track, “Love Me JeJe,” via Since ’93/RCA Records.
“Love Me JeJe” is the first single from Tems’ highly anticipated debut album, “Born In The Wild,” scheduled for release this May.
The song, which translates to “Love Me Softly” in Nigeria, pays homage to Tems’ childhood and upbringing, featuring an interpolation of the Nigerian classic of the same name by Seyi Sodimu. Read more

The American International School of Abuja has paid $760,910.84 to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from the $845,852 school fees allegedly deposited by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in respect of five of his children in the school
Bello is being prosecuted by the anti-graft body for allegedly defrauding the state to the tune of N80.2 billion.

Coalition of civil society groups, the Speak Out Africa Initiatives (SOAI) yesterday said that the recent jailbreak at Suleja Correctional Service has brought to light significant institutional lapses within Nigeria’s prison system.
In a statement signed by Kenneth Eze, the Lead Director, Speak Out Africa Initiative wondered why a current capacity of 499 inmates exceeded its built capacity of 250, and the escape of 119 inmates during the recent incident, stating that it is evident that urgent action is required to address these issues.
According to Eze, “the failure of the government to publish details of the escapees including their pictures following the Suleja jail break days after, is a concerning indication of gross institutional lapses.’ Read more

Former Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is set to appear in front of a New York judge next week, days after his 2020 rape conviction was overturned.
Weinstein is expected to appear in front of Judge Curtis Farber at the Manhattan Supreme Court on May 1, a spokesperson for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg told the PA news agency.
