A tenant in Tafawa Balewa Square Complex, Onikan, J. O. Abass, has alleged outrageous increments in shops and offices within the facility.In a statement, Abass, who is the principal of J. O. Abass & Co, Legal Practitioner, claimed that the management increased the rent of shops and offices from N10,000 per square metre to N25,000 per square metre, which is a 150% increment.
“They raised the service charge from N4,000 per square metre to N10,000 per square metre, which is a 150% increment.
“They are not ready to account for the service charges collected from tenants. They are forever having issues with Eko Electricity, and we don’t have electricity all the time whilst the generators don’t work, although we pay service charge,” he said.
The complainant further alleged, “More importantly, they charge more than the stipulated tariffs for electricity. Most of the time, there is no running water. (Guardian)
