Terminally ill boy ‘banned from giving out presents in hospital as he’s not famous’ (Metro)

Parents claim their terminally ill son has been banned from delivering presents to other sick children in hospital as he is an ‘infection risk’ – but question why celebrities have been invited to do so in previous years.

Milo Browne, six, has a rare degenerative illness and his parents say he was looking forward to handing out gifts to other children at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle Upon Tyne during what could be his final Christmas.

Laura Davidson, 34 and Stephen Browne, 33, claim the hospital – which has treated Milo since birth – told them letting Milo move from ward to ward could be a health and safety issue.

They argue their son is no more of a risk than celebrities who have previously visited the hospital, including footballers from Newcastle United who were invited to the wards to hand out gifts on Christmas Day.

Donor visits can take staff away from clinical duties meaning they do sometimes have to turn down requests, the parents were told. Read more
