Tessy Mukoro Daniels, a gifted actress and producer, will premiere her latest Isoko-language film, Uvi-Otaze, and host her annual Isoko Award Night to honour people who have excelled in their chosen professions. The two events will take place on December 27, 2022 at Noble International Hotel, Oleh, Isoko South LGA of Delta State.
The actress has starred in Nollywood movies and made Isoko language movies to popular acclaim. Uvi-Otaze, her latest movie offering, is her third Isoko movie. Others are Omote and Oniovome.
She described this year’s Isoko Award Night as “an epical event where distinguished Isoko personalities are recognized for their indelible contributions in the development of Isoko nation, human capital and those who have attained laudable feats in their areas of endeavours. We have four categories for this year to encourage excellence and intentionality among Isoko people. This year’s Isoko Award Night is the eighth edition to recognise the achievements of the awardees and their exceptional performances in their different spheres. Legendary, Achievers, Green Achievers and All Stars are the four categories into which the distinguished awardees fall into and in which they will be celebrated.”
Expected guests at the event include President of Isoko Development Union (IDU), Prof. Chris Akpotu, his deputy, Chief Dan Odhomo and IDU President for Republic of Ireland, Mr. Steve Agabi, who will be represented. Renowned entertainment lawyer, Barr. Rockson Akpotiri Igelige, will give the keynote address at the event and reflect on the place of entertainment law and how practitioners should use it to leverage on their practice, so they could reap maximally from their intellectual property. Igelige has won landmark intellectual property cases, among which is the one against telecom giant, MTN. He’s currently prosecuting a copyright infringement case against another telecom giant, Airtel Nigeria Ltd over Veno Marioghae-Mbanefo’s classic music anthem, ‘Nigeria Go Survive.’
Those to be awarded in the Legendary Category are Prince Eric Okupa, Pupa Sheriff and B’clean, and those in Achievers’ Category include High Chief Eta Enahoro, Hon. Benjamin Okiemute Essien, Steve Agabi, Bar. Igelige, Bar. Felix Ogbaudu (AIG rtd), Bar. Mike Edegware, Hon. Powell Tos Ojogho, Zino Arugba Monnitey and Princess Oghale Oweh while those in the Green Achievers Category are Oletu Ibru, Angela Ajirioghene Ukponmwan, Uteno Young Igbehen, Victory Omoni Ekpolo, Kome Idhese, Josiah Omenuwoma, Kingsley Omoefe, Igho Ekakitie and Akiti Irere Oghenemaro. Others are Omokaro Idama Kingsley, Ede Ewariezi Hyacinth, Esuoghene Aziano, Enes Idodo-Umeh, Hampo Uchenna, Ubara Obaro, Tina Joseph Israel Omogbolu, Loveth Avura, Emefiele Emeka Emamuzo and Austin Odede.
Ten distinguished personalities make up the All Stars Category, and they include Oway Mano, De Zino, Peter Aruakpor, Austin Atakele, Anointed Aboki Comedian, Honey Owolo, Felttouch Technologies, Okorafor Okeoghene Stella, Ataro Judith Afokeghene and Odomero Joy Ugeh.
