The Mandalorian season three isn’t expected until 2023, but Jon Favreau has now confirmed that a fourth season of the Disney+ series is already in development.
There’s a wealth of Star Wars news to get excited over at the moment – what with the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi and the impending arrival of Ahsoka – and Jon has added to that list with news that writing for the show has picked up once more.
Speaking to Cinema Blend, the series boss explained: “With television, we’re very lucky that we don’t have to rush things through into an hour-and-a-half, two hours.
“We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]’s doing Ahsoka, it’s very much informing the writing that I’m doing for [The Mandalorian] season four.”
Offering an insight into the writing process, Favreau added: “It becomes – how should I put it – more precise.”
This isn’t the only Mandalorian update we’ve had, either – Jon Favreau has also revealed that there are plans in place regarding the show’s conclusion.
“It’s interesting how things evolve and change in small ways, but we all know where everything’s going to end because of when the time period ends,” he told Collider.
“Within that, we also know storylines that are going to unfold within the characters that we’re either inheriting or developing.
“So, I would say that there is a lot of preparation done in broad strokes with how these storylines that we’ve established culminate, but we’re doing that within the confines and parameters of what’s pre-existing in canon.” (DigitalSpy)
