In a strategic move aligning with the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the appointment of a dynamic Board and Management team for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), effective December 1, 2023.
At the helm is Chief Pius Akinyelure as the Non-Executive Board Chairman, alongside a stellar lineup including Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer and Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya as the Chief Financial Officer. This diverse team, comprising seasoned professionals like Mr. Ledum Mitee, Mr. Musa Tumsa, Mr. Ghali Muhammad, Prof. Mustapha Aliyu, Mr. David Ogbodo, and Ms. Eunice Thomas, is set to usher in a new era for the NNPCL.
President Tinubu has also named two distinguished Permanent Secretaries – Mr. Okokon Ekanem Udo and Amb. Gabriel Aduda – overseeing the Federal Ministry of Finance and Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, respectively.
With a vision for a performance-driven and results-oriented approach, President Tinubu aims to harness the expertise of this distinguished team to implement an energy policy that not only maximises current oil and gas resources but also sets the stage for the exploration of cleaner energy sources in the future.
Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, announced these pivotal appointments on November 27, 2023, marking a strategic move towards a transformative energy landscape for Nigeria.
