Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said that President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate the state’s red line rail project on February 29.
According to a statement by Sanwo-Olu’s spokesperson, Gboyega Akosile, the governor made this known on Wednesday during the launch of the Lagos market trader money for 15,000 beneficiaries.
Sanwo-Olu said the rail project would change the “face of public transportation” in Nigeria.
He added that the red line train will take passengers from Agbado, Iju to Agege, Mushin, Oshodi, Yaba and Ebute Meta.
The governor said the rail system will provide more relief for commuters and reduce the traffic congestion in the state.
The governor said the work for the rail line project was executed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
In September 2023, the Lagos government inaugurated the blue rail line that connects the island part of the state to the mainland.
