Old Boys ministerial list

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday sent the list of 43 ministerial nominees for the screening and confirmation of the Senate.

Prominent on the list are a host of old and familiar faces: Former ministers Rotimi Amaechi, Raji Fashola, Adamu Adamu and Lai Mohammed made the list.

Also on the list are former governors of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Akpabio and Benue, George Akume; Buhari campaign spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, SAN.

Same faces, nothing new: except, as our president told us, suffering continues. Mtcheew.

It wasn’t me – Bulama Biu

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Div Maiduguri, Major General Bulama Biu, has denied saying Boko Haram members willing to surrender their arms and undergo rehabilitation have a chance of becoming Nigeria’s president.

Biu in an interview with journalists on Saturday said what was best for the insurgents was for them to lay down their arms and undergo deradicalisation. “An ex-Boko Haram member who has laid down his arms and turns away from negativity stands to become the president of this country and take up any position in this country,” Biu said during an interview with journalists in Abuja.

Biu, however, denied the statement and said he was quoted out of context. He said, “in specific, I appealed to Boko Haram insurgents to accept the opportunity provided to them through the ‘Operation Safe Corridor’, to lay down their arms, rejoin the society, reintegrate themselves, be productive, and do better things. I also moved further to say that there are a lot of opportunities for them to gain if they surrender themselves without being confronted.”

LOL. ‘Quoted out of context’ for video we saw with our korokoro eyes? Haba, Major!

The cat with nine lives called Boko Haram

Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has said that Boko Haram operation has been substantially degraded. Abubakar disclosed this yesterday after delivering the second distinguished personality lecture organised by the Institute of Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS), University of Ibadan, at the International Conference Centre of the university.

Speaking on the successes of the security forces tackling Boko Haram, the security chief said, “It has been substantially degraded because, remember, there were explosions everywhere in this country. If you recall in 2014 from where we’re coming and where we are now, Boko Haram is caged in a section of Northeast and we are fighting them on a daily basis. They are not able to come out as a force.

“Yes, from time to time, there may be a soft target because we can’t be everywhere.”

Mtcheew. I know say country hard, make una dey give unaselves false hope.

‘We too dey fear Buhari’

Former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central in the Senate, Shehu Sani, has claimed the North is tolerating President Muhammadu Buhari administrative style because he is from the region. Sani spoke as a guest speaker at a conference held to prepare Emerging Leaders in Kaduna on Monday.

He said the North had failed to hold Buhari accountable despite the killings and destruction of property in the region. He lamented poverty and educational backwardness in the North, calling on the President to urgently intervene.

“Questioning President Buhari is more sympathetic when people are killed in the South-West than in the North, and this is because, they (South) are holding him to account. Here in the North, you don’t because they are shy. They believe he is infallible and that he cannot be called to question,” Sani said.

Nobody dey tolerate Buhari. Shebi na we vote am in? Buhari is our best president since Abacha. If we no love am, wetin we gain?

Judge not, that ye be not jailed

A US courtroom descended into chaos as a former judge was sentenced to jail.

Tracie Hunter, a former Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge, was given a six-month sentence after using her position to help her brother keep his job back in 2014.

Hunter, elected in 2010, was the first African-American in the role. She had appealed the sentence but the judge ordered her to be taken into custody.
