Ambode sleep, trouble wake am
Former governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode has denied being involved in the N9.9bn fraud said to have been discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). A federal high court in Lagos on Monday ordered the freezing of three bank accounts over an alleged fraud of N9.9 billion fraud.
“The former Governor was not and will never be involved in any unauthorised use of government property and resources,” Ambode’s media aide Habib Aruna said in a statement. Aruna said the investigated accounts were opened for administrative purpose of Lagos State Government and not for the former Ambode’s personal transactions.
“We strongly believe that after four demanding years as Chief Executive of Lagos State, Mr Ambode is entitled to some deserved rest with his family and loved ones without the unwarranted attacks on his well-earned reputation,” Aruna said.

Taekwondo lessons in the sunshine state
Mrs Akeredolu said this on Friday when she delivered a letter to the Commissioner of Police (CP) in Ondo State, Mr Undie Adie, to express her displeasure over the rising incidents of rape in the state. The governor’s wife was on the visit to Adie’s office over the rape of a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, by soldiers at the Ikare/Akungba road checking point last week.
According to her, soldiers are supposed to be protectors of civilians, but this incidence has proven that Ondo women are not safe with anyone, hence, the need to equip them with Taekwondo skills for self-defence. She noted that if the case of a soldier in army uniform raping a woman was brought to the fore and perpetrators made to face the full wrath of the law, it would serve as a deterrent to others.
Great news. Although sad that women have resorted to extreme measures to protect themselves from stupidity, it’s about time they take their destines into their hands.
Eau de fart
A heated debate about market stalls was disrupted by a foul smell and furious finger-pointing at a Kenyan regional assembly, local reports say.
“Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is,” Julius Gaya reportedly told Homa Bay county assembly. But the member he accused of farting is said to have replied: “I am not the one. I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues.”
Hoping to clear the air, the assembly’s Speaker Edwin Kakach then instructed members to step outside and take a break from the chamber. Reports also say he asked officials to bring in air fresheners “to make it pleasant. Get whatever flavour you will find in any office, whether it’s vanilla or strawberry.”
LOL. At least no snakes or monkeys dey enter their own assembly.
The evil that men do
In a horrifying incident in India, a man addicted to gambling and alcohol bet his wife after running out of money and allowed his friends to gang rape her after losing the stake. The incident took place in Jaunpur district and after the incident the victim went to court when the police refused to take action on her complaint. Following a court order, an FIR has been registered in Jaffarabad police station in Jaunpur district.
The victim, who lives in the Zafarabad police station area, claimed that her husband was an alcoholic and had put her on stake while gambling. Reports said her husband’s friend Arun and relative Anil often used to visit their house for drinking and gambling. One particular day, last month, her husband put her on stake while gambling with Anil and Arun. On losing, Arun and Anil gang-raped her.
After the incident, the victim went to her maternal uncle’s house. Her husband followed her there, asking for forgiveness and said that it was a mistake. After he apologised, she went back with him in his car. On their way, her husband stopped the car and allowed his friends to gangrape her once again. When the woman complained to the police, they refused to file a complaint, following which, the victim approached the court.
This is all just evil, nothing else.
