Thank God, Stephen Chukwude did not hear ween
Enyimba player, Stephen Chukwude, has narrated his ordeal in the hands of men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), who accused him of being involved in internet fraud, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo’.
In a live video recorded by the player, two police officers stopped him in his Mercedes Benz with Lagos number plate LSR 84 AZ, and tagged him as an internet fraudster for driving such a car. Despite the player’s display of his identity card and presence of football paraphernalia in the car, the video showed one of the police officers saying “everybody who has a Mercedes Benz is an internet fraudster.”
He alleged that the police officers, one of whom he identified as Williams, refused to take him to the police station and threatened him with their guns. He said that police authorities in Enugu State have got in touch with him and apologised for the incident.
SMH. I have lost my voice saying this: Nigeria needs a holistic cleansing, from our homes to churches to government offices: the whole place stinks!
Kingsley Moghalu and Presidency: A case of gbas gbos
Moghalu on Thursday said it is sad that the President of Africa’s supposedly largest economy wasn’t invited to the summit but his counterparts from Rwanda, President Paul Kagame, and South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, were invited.
“Kingsley Moghalu is either ignorant or playing petty politics,” Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu said on Friday. “The non-invitation of President Buhari to witness the G7 meeting this year is not a snub.” He said it is left to the organisers of the summit to invite whom they want. He noted that the president didn’t go to Europe before he signed an MOU of 50 Million Euros in support of the country’s devastated North East.
This our government is good at clapbacks o – the only thing they are good at in fact.
Fashola makes a promise
He disclosed this when the management team of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit in his office. Fashola said the policy direction of government was to complete all ongoing and abandoned projects.
He further said there was a lot that could be jointly done by the ministry and the bank, assuring the bank’s team of the ministry’s readiness to look at its projects that were ongoing and fashion out ways of completing them.
Okay. I sha hope Oga Fashola won’t dish out excuse like he did in the other ministry…
A bully called the US Embassy
The United States Embassy in Nigeria says it will continue to charge Nigerians reciprocity fees because it has yet to receive any diplomatic communication regarding a new fee schedule for Americans seeking Nigerian visas. A press release on Friday read in part, “The US Embassy looks forward to receiving official diplomatic communication regarding a new fee schedule for Americans seeking Nigerian visas. Until such time, and confirmation of implementation, the reciprocity fees for approved visas to the United States will remain in place.”
The US had on Tuesday said effective from Thursday, August 29, 2019, Nigerians applying for tourism, student and business visas will not only pay the N59, 200 fee but will have to pay an extra $110 (N40, 700) after the visa has been issued to them bringing the total cost to N99, 900.
The embassy said in a statement that the increment was done based on reciprocity. It lamented that Americans were paying too much to secure Nigerian visas and thus the US government decided to retaliate.
Mtcheew. Look how we’re being held to ransom…Sad, sad stuff.
A budget befitting a Pope
Mozambique’s government expects to spend about $325,000 (£266,000) on preparations for Pope Francis’ visit next week, state radio reports, but not everybody is happy. “There is a basic budget but it is being adjusted, considering that when things like this are being done, there are occasional situations which need to be dealt with,” Foreign Minister Jose Pacheco told Radio Mozambique, justifying the sum.
Some residents of the capital, Maputo, said that the money should be spent on improvements to the city regardless of whether somebody important is visiting. “This is stupid! Why wait for the Pope’s visit to make our city beautiful? This is what Maputo should always look like,” resident Bernicia Cotela says.
Others, like Afonso Silveira think the price tag is justified because “ensuring the security of the Pope is something that requires a lot of investment… including the roads, the cathedral and the stadiums”. “But I am also of the opinion that cleanliness, security and the renovation of the city should be a permanent task for all of us, including the government,” he adds.
LOL. This is why Jesus has refused to reveal the time of his second coming. He no wan hear say people use ‘budgeting’ as means to make some cash disappear.
