Xenophobia attacks: Buhari don vex
Consequently, the President has instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, to summon the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria and get a brief on the situation; express Nigeria’s displeasure over the treatment of her citizens; and assurance of the safety of their lives and property.
President Buhari has also dispatched a Special Envoy to convey to President Cyril Ramaphosa his concerns and also interact with his South African counterpart on the situation. The Special Envoy is expected to arrive in Pretoria latest Thursday, September 5, 2019.
Buhari needs to take stringer measures biko. And for those Nigerians calling for attacks on South African-owned businesses in Nigeria, one question: how do you quell fire with fire?
The semantics of bloodshed
“Nothing… has sparked any form of conflict between the South African and foreign nationals,” Cele said. Cele’s comment contrasted the views of Nigerian, Ethiopian and Zambian authorities after many businesses owned by non-South Africans were singled out and destroyed by irate mobs, forcing Nigeria to vow “definitive measures.”
South African opposition politician Julius Malema said attacks on foreign nationals were a misdirected anger and advised his countrymen to face up to fighting “white monopoly”.
Mtcheew. South Africans—and likewise most African countries—need to look inward and examine themselves. I know these are symptoms of mental slavery but please…things need to change!
Ekiti’s prison for parents
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Monday said parents who keep their school-age children out of school run the risk of being prosecuted.
“We have a Child Rights Act in Ekiti which prohibits parents from disallowing children of school age to be out of school during school session,” he said. “If your child is not in school when the school is in session, you have a lot to explain because we will apprehend the child whether he is found hawking on the street or engaging in any illicit activities which prevent him or her from being in school.”
Good. And also, something should be done to parents that keep on having more children than they can take care of. I mean, what do you think is one of the reasons condoms are for?

A scuba diver shot himself in the head with a spear gun and remarkably managed to avoid any serious injuries. The diver from Umkomaas, South Africa, was picking up fishing sinkers about 20 metres offshore on August 31 when the freak accident occurred.
The missile missed Connie Hallowell’s brain and eyes before he rushed back to the beach for help.
He is now recovering in hospital and still has full vision, despite the projectile penetrating right behind his eyeballs.
