A Danfo Driver exits
Nigerian Reggae singer, Omeofa Oghene, known as Mad Melon from the popular Danfo Driver music group is dead.
Veteran singer and social activist, Daddy Showkey announced this via his Instagram page. Daddy Showkey said, “Can somebody tell me that is not true that we just lost Mad Melon DANFO Driver pls”.
Mad Melon was part of the popular group Danfo Driver, which also had Mountain Black as a member. The group became popular in the early 2000s for its unique music style, which has remained admired by Nigerians.
RIP Mad Melon. You and Mountain Black are an indelible part of my growing-up years.
The very costly mistake of being a child
Two men in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh have been arrested for allegedly killing two Dalit (formerly untouchables) children who were defecating in the open, police say. Roshni, 12, and Avinash, 10, were attacked on Wednesday while defecating near a village road, they said. The children’s family told BBC Hindi that they have no toilet at home.
“The two children were beaten to death with sticks,” police superintendent Rajesh Chandel told BBC Hindi’s Shuraih Niazi. “We have registered a murder case against both the accused. They are being questioned.” Within hours of the attack early on Wednesday morning, police arrested two upper-caste men – Rameshwar Yadav and Hakim Yadav.

A Chinese guide to falling hand
A social media influencer in China has been exposed for living a “double life”, after her landlord revealed her filthy living conditions, which contrasted with the glamorous image she presents online.
Footage went viral showing the apartment of Lisa Li – a blogger with 1.1 million followers – littered with rubbish, mouldy food, and dog excrement. Her account, like that of many young Chinese influencers, is a glossy catalogue of travel adventures, parties and fine-dining experiences.
Ms Chen, the landlord, told Pear Video that even professional cleaners had refused to clean the place, adding that her tenant owed thousands of yuan in unpaid utility bills. Ms Chen said that she had no choice but to contact the police about the damage to her property and the unpaid utilities. Since the footage was published, Ms Li has apologised.

Does FIFA have questions to answer?
FIFA has been forced to deny claims the World Player of the Year vote was fixed to ensure Lionel Messi would take home the prize. Messi collected the top honour ahead of Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo.
Nicaragua captain Juan Barrera sparked calls for an investigation into the integrity of the vote after he insisted he did not vote for Messi. “I did not vote in The Best 2019 awards,” Barrera said on Twitter. “Any information about me is false.” National captains and coaches make up two parts of the voting pool, with a journalist from each country also granted a say, and Messi won 46 per cent of the votes cast.
“Having compared with the vote sheets submitted by the federation and the ones we have published on FIFA.com, we confirm that we have the right votes signed by the player,” FIFA said. “We are asking the Nicaraguan Football Federations to inquire on this matter.”
Hmmm. I’m one of those who wondered how Messi robbed…sorry, won that award. Perhaps FIFA is not so fair play after all.
Marriage proposal palaver
Former African table tennis champion, Olufunke Oshonaike, has decried the increasing rate at which she gets marriage proposals from married men. Oshonaike, who made the outburst on Facebook, said she lost confidence in marriage after her previous relationships collapsed.
In one of her failed relationships, the sportswoman said she caught her boyfriend in bed with another girl, a day before her trip to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, despite carrying a pregnancy. Recently, her marriage with Kevin Irabor, who allegedly married another woman despite still being married to the Olympian, broke down after two boys.
Oshonaike said: “I’ve been going through this since I was a teenager and I’m sick and tired of begging married men to please leave me alone! I don’t want any gifts or anything from you guys. Give those gifts to your wives! If you’re having problem with your wife, I’m not your option because I’m a woman like your wife!”
