Emeka Ihedioha: Is this the end of ‘happiness’ in Imo?

Mr Emeka Ihedioha, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the March 9 governorship polls in Imo State, has emerged winner of the election. Prof. Francis Otonta, the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the final results at the Imo governorship election collation centre in Owerri, the state capital today. Ihedioha, a former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, won in 11 of the 27 Local Government Area, polling a total 273,404 votes to defeat his closest contender, Mr Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance (AA) who won in 10 LGAs and scored 190,364 votes. My own is what will now happen to the Commissioner for Happiness. Mr Emeka should better let Okorocha’s manhood…sorry, legacy in the State House live on o.

Sanwo-Olu talks the talk of a victor

The governor-elect in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has lauded Lagosians for making an enlightened choice in Saturday’s governorship poll, which he won. He said this on Monday a day after being declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Sunday. He said, “There were things said during this campaign that should not have been said, and tactics employed that were short-sighted and potentially disruptive to the social accord and harmony of purpose we have enjoyed in Lagos. FIFA catches fever over preparation money

FIFA has sent a stern warning to all participating member associations of the Women’s World Cup not to use preparation money to be sent to them for any other purposes. The world football-governing body, in a circular no. 8 dated January 25, 2019, noted that the decision to give the funds to all the 24 teams expected to compete for honours in France was taken at the FIFA Council that took place in Kigali, Rwanda on October 26, 2018.

Some of the conditions given by FIFA was for the funds to be used judiciously for the camping and other preparation for all the teams. It is worthy of note that some of the developing countries, including Nigeria in the past have used FIFA funds for other programmes. LOL. FIFA must be a house full of unbelievers. They should know that in Naija we must pay tithe…even if it’s not our money.

Mo Money Mo Problems

The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, was absent from Tuesday’s proceedings of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, where he has been charged with six counts of non-declaration of assets. Explaining his absence to the three-man Bench of the CCT, his lawyer, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), said the suspended CJN developed a toothache which needed to be treated urgently. To justify the defendant’s absence, Awomolo produced a medical report obtained by Onnoghen from the hospital where he was said to be receiving treatment. The prosecuting counsel, Mr. Aliyu Umar (SAN) noted that he would have expressed “an observation” about the medical report but for the comment of the doctor who signed it, stating that Justice Onnoghen had a high blood pressure of 410/121 and needed to observe bed rest. Hmmm. Let the man observe his bed rest biko. The wahala that could happen before the case comes to an end fit give person high BP.

Rihanna blues

For 23-year-old Yna Sertalf, being Rihanna’s doppelganger has come with a lot more than she bargained for. In a chat with BuzzFeed, she said, “I’ve been single for about a year, but I would never put myself in a relationship with someone who sees me as Rihanna and not Yna. My friends and family find it funny too. Once my mom received a magazine in her mailbox with Rihanna on the cover and she sent it to me, saying ‘I thought it was you.’” But despite her not being able to find love just yet, it seems her fans aren’t too fussed, as they keep asking the Instagrammer where the album is at. Awww. I wonder who my celebrity lookalike is sef. Who knows, maybe I’m somebody’s celebrity lookalike. I know, I know, I can dream sha.
