Buhari to APC members: OYO lowa o
He said: “Past presidents of Nigeria were known to interfere in inconclusive elections, and that is why party members appear to be upset that the same thing is not happening now, but President Buhari is a different kind of leader. He swore to defend the constitution and will not veer off from that.” Good. I sha hope working hard doesn’t entail rigging o, because lately that’s how hardworking some Naija politicians have been.
INEC displeased with PDP
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has explained why presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has not inspected election materials. Atiku had headed to the court after losing the February 23 election to incumbent, President Muhammadu Buhari.
In his reaction, spokesman of the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said, “It is common knowledge that since the declaration of the results of the presidential election, the commission has been busy with the multiple activities associated with the national assembly, governorship, state houses of assembly and federal capital territory elections…But, let me also say this. The PDP needs to show some decorum in the way it composes its press statements. The PDP’s frequent use of offensive and abusive words, which secondary school students get to read, very often, is unhelpful.” LOL. Oh please, Naija politicians have offended and abused us with their words for too long. We are now numb to it.
Imo State and the N17bn question
Governor Rochas Okorocha has said that, with its meagre federal allocation and a paltry Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Imo State did not have the N17bn said to have been illegally withdrawn by him. He also challenged the governor-elect of the state, Emeka Ihedioha, to probe the N17bn allegedly withdrawn from financial institutions in the state in the past one week. In a statement made available to newsmen by Okorocha’s Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, on Monday, the state government advised members of the public to ignore the governor-elect’s allegation. “He is just smart, politically; but political smartness is different from having the capacity for leadership or governance,” the government statement said. “Where in Imo State with meager federal allocation and Internally Generated Revenue can one see N17bn to withdraw?” LOL. Who una come dey ask? You guys should go and ask Ganduje. Him fit get some cash to lend una. Ahem.
A fiend called Maths
A team of researchers from Cambridge University studied the problem of fear of mathematics in schools by looking at 1,700 British pupils aged eight to 13 alongside another 1,000 Italian pupils. They found that children tended to expect maths to be a more difficult subject which in turn led to a loss of confidence. “Teachers, parents, brothers and sisters and classmates can all play a role in shaping a child’s maths anxiety,” said study co-author Dr. Ros McLellan. “Parents and teachers should also be mindful of how they may unwittingly contribute to a child’s maths anxiety. Tackling their own anxieties and belief systems in maths might be the first step to helping their children or students.” Ah, this just reminded me of nightmarish secondary school days. Thank God, no more algebraic equations or finding lost Xs and Ys. *cues in the hook to Skepta’s ‘Bad Energy’*
UEFA konk Ronaldo for head
UEFA have taken action against Cristiano Ronaldo for his ‘cojones’ celebration against Atletico Madrid. Ronaldo has been charged with improper conduct, but is unlikely to face a ban from Champions League action. The Juventus star’s celebrations at full-time against Atletico was a clear dig at Diego Simeone, who made a similar gesture in the first leg in Madrid. UEFA fined Simeone £18,000 and Ronaldo is expected to receive a similar punishment for his actions in Turin. Don’t even know why this is any business of mine sef. I’m still mourning Sunday’s Chelsea loss.
