Greeting na by force? – CAN
A source in CAN’s national executive body said: “If you know the pressure mounted on CAN leadership that we, as a body, have to go and congratulate the president. However, the church is saying this election is controversial and we see what is happening. But, they are still mounting pressure seriously.
“They are telling us if we don’t congratulate him, it means we are against him and that we are partisan. However, we are saying let them resolve the issues (in court) before we go and congratulate whoever wins. That’s the situation we find ourselves as the Church of God.” LOL. Who knows, maybe if the Church of God didn’t rub minds with politicians, they for no dey this quagmire. Giving Mbaka the side-eye.
Nnamdi Kanu don enter one chance
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, and directed that his trial on charges of treasonable felony should proceed in his absence. The lead prosecuting counsel, Mr. Magaji Labaran, applied for the court’s orders earlier in the Thursday’s proceedings. Kanu’s lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had opposed Labaran’s oral application, and had asked to be given more time to explain why his client had not been in court by filing all necessary papers.
“Proceedings must end one way or the other,” Justice Nyako said. “…in the absence of any reasonable explanation for his absence, I hereby revoke his bail and order that a bench warrant be issued for his arrest.” Wait o, shey una go cross River Niger go arrest am, or una expect am to use him own hand submit himself? LOL. Na now una go sabi say the man na true Israelite.
Tokunbo pizza! Hot from London to Lagos
The Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, has expressed sadness over the unbridled importation of goods into Nigeria. Speaking on Tuesday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Agriculture in Abuja, the minister said some Nigerians import pizza from London. The minister said those making the orders for pizza usually do so in the morning, through British Airways airline.
“Do you know, sir, that there are Nigerians who use their cellphones to import pizza from London? They buy in London and bring it on British Airways in the morning to pick up at the airport,” he said. “It is a very annoying situation and we have to move a lot faster in cutting down some of these things.” Haba, Nigerians! Later when I ask for small money now una go tell me say country hard. God is watching.
Very expensive corporal punishment
According to Destiny’s statement of claim, on June 20, 2011, Owen came to his classroom and flogged all the pupils who had yet to pay their school fees. Destiny added that while being flogged, his right eye was covered in blood and he was left in tears for several hours unattended to.
It was gathered that the right eye was operated on without success at LUTH and the doctor’s report revealed that it was permanently damaged and could not perceive light as a result of severe damage. Hmmm. Sad. No amount of money justifies a child losing his sight because of a teacher’s overzealousness. I mean, instead of flogging, why not just send school fee-defaulting pupils home? Y’all teachers should think things through.
Taiwan: No showing of teeth to drunk drivers
Taiwan plans to ramp up punishments for those who cause a fatal accident while drunk driving, including the death penalty for the most egregious cases, sparking an outcry from abolition and rights groups. The cabinet on Thursday approved a draft amendment to the Criminal Code that would make death by drunk driving an indictable murder offence, potentially punishable by death if the deed is deemed “intentional”, officials said.
Currently the maximum sentence in Taiwan for causing a death while drunk behind the wheel is 10 years. “Cases of drunk driving leading to death are rampant… drink drivers recklessly caused accidents that took lives and destroyed families to result in irreparable regret,” the Justice Ministry said in a statement. Ah! But when someone is driving under the influence and causes an accident, how do you determine if the deed is intentional? All these lawmakers should calm down. They know how to expend energy pumping full tyre.
Godwin for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United have appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as permanent manager on a three-year contract. The Norwegian, 46, arrived at Old Trafford on an interim basis in December to replace Jose Mourinho. Solskjaer spent 11 seasons as a United player, scoring the winning goal in the 1999 Champions League final.
“From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club. It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here,” he said. “This is the job that I always dreamed of doing and I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long term.” Good for Ole (Yeah, I pronounce it like it’s a Yoruba word), he deserves it, he’s beaten the odds like say them be Chelsea.
