Like play like play, the music changes for dancing senator
A Federal High Court in Abuja heard yesterday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in last year’s Osun State governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, did not sit for the National Examination Council (NECO) examinations in 2017. It was at the resumed proceedings of the trial of the senator and four others for their alleged involvement in examination malpractices.
The prosecution called two witnesses – Emmanuel Odesola and Adigun Akintayo – who said they acted as supervisor and invigilator during the June/July 2017 NECO examination in Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro, Osun State. They said of the five defendants, they only saw Sikiru Adeleke (the Senator’s brother), who is listed as the 2nd respondent, the principal and registrar of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School during the examination.
Akintayo, in his evidence-in-chief, said that while he was distributing question papers, “I saw a candidate that was more matured. He was Sikiru Adeleke. I asked him for his identity card, and he showed me one that was issued by the school and signed by the principal. As a school teacher, I could not ask him to leave the hall or query him any further.”
Mehn, no dancing this period for Davido uncle o. The man just dey chop bumper-to-bumper lawsuits. I sha hope say tomorrow Davido PPA no go talk say they no see am too.
Mudashiru Obasa’s stately dream for Lagos
The Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has admonished the lawmakers to work towards making the state to stand as a country, such that it will not have to wait for subventions from the Federation Account. Obasa spoke at a plenary as lawmakers resumed from the recess they had taken for the general elections.
“Let us serve the people effectively so that the people would see that we are working,” he said. “Let us ensure that we push Lagos to stand like a country. States such as California and Atlanta in the United States of America could stand on their own. I believe that Lagos can go beyond what we are. We should see it that the work is to be done collectively.”
True, but make we first get rid of tankers and trucks of all kinds so that we can see a brighter future.
Minimum wage and standard, operational procedures
The Presidency said on Wednesday that President Muhammadu Buhari had yet to sign the National Minimum Wage Bill just passed by the National Assembly into law, contrary to reports last week that he had done so. The Senate had on March 19 passed the bill, approving N30,000 as the new national minimum wage.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, said, “The bill has been transmitted to Mr President; that I can confirm. Right now, the bill is undergoing standard presidential, operational procedures in respect of bills. We are within time. At the appropriate time, Mr President will take a decision and make it public. Therefore, the report that Mr President has already signed the bill is not correct.”
LOL. Standard presidential, operational procedures on top 30K? Makes me wonder what standard, operational procedures our senators and governors go through before they receive their salaries. I feel for them.
Enjoyment kill me, enjoyment kill me, now it has happened
Two undergraduates of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, were found dead while allegedly engaged in sex romp with a female student of the institution. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the deceased students were suspected to have abused drugs during the sex romp with two other victims, a male and a female.
“The police operatives recovered substances suspected to be Indian hemp and tramadol from the scene,” he said. “The victims were immediately conveyed to the police clinic and two of the victims, Kingsley and Richard, were certified dead by the medical doctor on duty.
“The families of the deceased have been contacted, while the conditions of the surviving victims are still being closely monitored.”
Hmmm. People of God, need I say more? From now on, just jejely—I repeat, jejely—come, and be going. Let us not die on top the matter biko.
A Spanish warning to Bush Burners
Most cannabis sold on the streets of Madrid, Spain is contaminated with dangerous levels of faecal matter, a study done by José Manuel Moreno Pérez, a pharmacologist from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid have revealed. Traces of E.coli bacteria and the Aspergillus fungus were found by analysts who examined 90 samples bought in and around the Spanish capital.
The aim of the study was to determine whether the drugs sold were suitable for human consumption.
The study says this is particularly dangerous for cancer patients, who sometimes smoke cannabis to help with the symptoms of chemotherapy. “These patients have a weakened immune system, meaning that an infection caused by the consumption of contaminated or adulterated hashish could be fatal,” it adds.
No wonder cannabis is sometimes called dope shit!
