Another episode in the Saraki drama
Nigeria Senate President Bukola Saraki has said the latest probe into his earnings by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is a witch-hunt against his person.
In a statement, Saraki’s media aide Yusuph Olaniyonu said, “…We are compelled to make our positions known on the less than noble and patriotic objectives behind these investigations because we believe it is a mere witch-hunt exercise aimed at settling scores, laced with malicious and partisan motives,” Olaniyonu said. “This is definitely no fight against corruption. It is a battle waged against a ‘political enemy’.”
Chai, Saraki is really sleeping on a bicycle o. Where did he keep his ears when Oshiomole said Once you join APC, all your sins are forgiven? He should do the needful osiso.
‘Buhari don fall our hand’
The Chairman of the Northern Elders Forum, Prof Ango Abdullahi, has lamented the growing security challenges facing the country, saying President Muhammadu Buhari is not doing enough to salvage the situation.
“I don’t understand what the reaction from the Presidency is expected to convey to the public,” Prof Abdullahi said. “They (Presidency) should be concerned that the security failures are everywhere, including the hometown of the President. Obviously there is more insecurity in the North today than during Jonathan’s leadership.”
Haba! Prof has blasphemed o. Doesn’t he know that, according to APC, Jonathan is the cause of all the mess? Doesn’t he know that Buhari would have cleared it all up but needed four years to blame Jonathan? Prof should be more current biko.
State-and-Capital: An Ebonyi tragicomedy
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi was rattled when several permanent secretary hopefuls in the state failed to recite the national anthem, even as they had no clear idea of the states and their capitals, among other questions they were asked in an interview session on Tuesday. The interview session was televised live by the state’s television network and watched by hundreds of people across the state and beyond.
A particular candidate said that the capital of Kwara is Kwara and that capital of Lagos is Lagos; while another said that the Anambra capital is Anambra. An amused Umahi jokingly told one of the interviewees to ask her children at home to teach her how to recite the states and their capitals.
The governor noted that only intelligent and resourceful candidates would be selected to assist in re-positioning the civil service.
LOL. Who State-and-Capital epp? Umahi should take them like that joor. They will lose weight…sorry, learn on the job.
Justice on the way for raped Abuja sex workers?
The acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr Adamu Mohammed, has said men of the Nigeria Police Force involved in the mass raping of women suspected to be prostitutes in the Abuja metropolis will be punished. Mohammed said this shortly after he appeared before the Senate to brief the lawmakers on the efforts being made by the police to tackle the spate of killings, kidnappings and banditry across Nigeria.
The women, who were arrested for alleged prostitution at different hotels and night clubs in Abuja on April 27, alleged that the policemen released victims who gave them money. They also said that some of the security officers who forcefully had sex with them did not use condom, while a few others reportedly used ‘pure water’ sachet in place of condom during the sexual assault.
“…We have set up a panel to investigate, and anybody caught or proved to have done that will face the law,” Mohammed said.
Hmmm. Okay. We’re expecting arrests and prosecution.
Chelsea ban: Good for some, bad for most
Chelsea have lost their appeal against Fifa’s decision to ban them from signing players during the next two transfer windows. Fifa took action against Chelsea after an investigation into their signing of foreign under-18 players.
Chelsea said they were “very disappointed” and will now appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri opines it will “not be easy” to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City next season, if the club fails to do business during the transfer season.
“…The level of the top two is very, very high. I think that we have to buy only one, two players, otherwise it’s very difficult to improve immediately,” Sarri said. “I think we are a very good team, so we need only one, two players, no more.”
Mtcheew. At least, Chelsea will be forced to use those academy boys that they have sworn not to use. God works in mysterious ways.
How Liverpool didn’t walk alone
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp said he was “overwhelmed” and saw his players in tears after they completed the biggest Champions League semi-final comeback to beat Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate.
“The whole game was too much,” he said. “Winning is difficult but with a clean sheet, I don’t know how they did it. The mix of potential and unbelievable heart is just a mix I never saw before. It shows what’s possible in football. It’s so nice.”
See ehn, I’m sorry for badmouthing Liverpool. I thought Messi would have been merciless, but instead he chose to be messy in front of goal. You want to know how Liverpool can win the cup? Bench Salah! I swear, that Ramos otumokpo no be here.
