Sanwo-Olu in, Ambode out: Lagos State wears a new face
Out-going governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, in a brief private ceremony at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja handed over the reins of government to the incoming governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat ahead of the official handing-over on Wednesday.
Answering questions from the governor’s press crew after the brief ceremony, Sanwo-Olu said: “We had a very private handing over ceremony with the governor of the state, Akinwunmi Ambode, and we are happy with what he told us. We are excited about the conversation we had with him. We are looking forward to the inauguration ceremony tomorrow”.
According to him, the conversation with the governor was centered on more advice and how his thoughts were and what “we should also be concerned with. And whatever he has to offer. What we needed to work with are documents. And we have the right documents to work with and we will take it up from there”.
You know, if you think am well, Ambode has handed over power even before elections started. This is just formality.
From ‘Baba Go Slow’ to…?
President Muhammadu Buhari says those who describe him as ‘baba go slow’ during his first administration will be in for a shock during his second term. Buhari said this during a media chat which was aired on theNigerian Television Authority. He said he would ensure police and judicial reform in his second term in office.
When asked if he will be more ruthless in his second term, he said, “Those who call me ‘baba go slow’ will see whether I am slow or fast.”
When asked to explain further, he said, “It means I will persuade the police and the judiciary to be hard and where I uncover that they are not hard, I will find out who is responsible for the slowness in terms of command from the DPO upwards”.
Mtcheew. And after you find out who is responsible for the slowness, what next? “I will travel to wherever for a well-deserved rest.”
Ewo! Maryam kick ball into Aisha corner
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on social investment, Maryam Uwais, has defended the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programmes (SIP). Uwais said Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, who criticised SIP, would have been able to find all beneficiaries of the project if she had access to available data.
Speaking on Channels Television, the presidential aide said about 290,000 beneficiaries from Adamawa, Aisha’s home state, were being paid under the initiative. The Cable reports that Buhari’s wife had said the programme being coordinated by Uwais failed in the north.
Uwais said, “I believe that if she (Aisha) were to listen to the information they have there, if she were to check our data, she would be able to find all the beneficiaries. Yes, she may not have met them. But we are in 12 local government areas for the cash transfer. We are also in 12 LGAs for loans. So, I think we have at least 290,000 beneficiaries directly that we are paying in Adamawa State.”
LOL. Aunty Maryam, mind what you say to our First Lady o. If you didn’t know, she dey answer Bubu’s surname o. Ehen.
No retreat, no surrender, no resignation
Papua New Guinea’s embattled prime minister appears to be attempting to stall his own resignation, days after he announced he was stepping down.
Peter O’Neill told reporters on Sunday he was going to hand power over in the interest of “political stability”. The decision followed a series of high-level defections to the opposition.
But Mr O’Neill has yet to formally hand in his resignation, and launched a bid to block a no-confidence vote in his government with the Supreme Court. What’s more, the ally he said he would hand power to – Sir Julius Chan – has now said it was a “huge misunderstanding” and he would not become prime minister.
LOL. This one na till death do us part ‘marriage’. There must be something unique in the air politicians breathe sha.
Wenger the baller
Arsene Wenger has become an internet sensation after a mismatch made in heaven turned into hell for Zinedine Zidane.
Former Arsenal manager Wenger, 69, who spent his playing career in the lower leagues, was snapped in a charity game evading 46-year-old Bernabeu boss Zidane, an all-time great player for France and Real Madrid. The photo shows Wenger looking lean, mean and fully focused as he turns to stride away from his fellow Frenchman.
One fan tweeted: “Wenger leaving Zidane for dead in midfield might be my favourite sporting picture in history.”
Hmmm. I imagine Wenger would have done a better job than what Aiyegbeni did that 2010 World Cup!
