Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Southampton’s wantaway midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in a deal believed to be worth around £15 million.
The Denmark international was stripped of the Saints captaincy by Ralph Hasenhuttl in June after making it clear he wanted a fresh challenge elsewhere and would not be renewing his contract.
Hojbjerg’s deal was due to expire next summer, giving Spurs a strong hand in negotiations, while Southampton have also signed right-back Kyle Walker-Peters on a permanent deal from Spurs.
Although the two transfers have been treated separately, Walker-Peters made the £12m move to the south coast on Tuesday, which effectively means Spurs have a net spend of just £3m on the deal. (Metro)
