Traffic robber arrested after dispossessing motorist of valuables (Punch)
The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has revealed that a traffic robber was arrested at Otedola bridge in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Lagos police spokesperson on his Twitter page added that the thief was arrested and dangerous items were recovered from him, including a locally fabricated toy guy.
Hundeyin added that investigations were already ongoing.
His tweet read, “Officers of the Alausa Police Division at 2am today arrested a traffic robber who had in his possession a locally fabricated toy gun and other dangerous items, on Otedola bridge, shortly after robbing a motorist of his valuables.

A Superintendent of Police, Goddy Ihende, has told a Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square that a driver of the Lagos Bus Rapid Transit, Andrew Ominikoron, who allegedly raped and murdered his passenger, Oluwabamise Ayanwole, always raped his victims in secluded places.
The witness said apart from the deceased, the defendant attempted to rape one Doctor Victoria Anieke.
He said the incident happened on December 29, 2021, when Anieke, who resided in Delta State, came to visit her parents and friend, who resided in the Ketu and Ikorodu areas of Lagos, respectively.
Ihende, who is the seventh prosecution witness, told Justice Sherifat Sonaike that the modus operandi of the defendant was to carry his victims alone and go to secluded places to rape them. Read more
Masked gunmen abduct Lagos motorist in broad daylight (Punch)
There was panic at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos State, on Tuesday, when masked gunmen reportedly abducted a yet-to-be-identified motorist.
According to eyewitnesses who narrated the incident on Twitter, the man was forced out of a black Toyota Corolla, which he was driving on Medical Road in the area.
A user, @girllikehelen, who shared photos of the vehicle, said the incident happened in front of the Slot retail shop around 8am.
She wrote, “The owner of this car was allegedly kidnapped on Medical Road in Ikeja this morning. According to my source, the gunmen accosted the owner of the car and asked him to come down from the vehicle; he refused. They pulled out their guns, he refused to alight from the car. Read more
Ataga: Absence of police witness stalls trial (Punch)
The trial of a 300-level student of Mass Communication Department, University of Lagos, Akoka, Chidinma Ojukwu, over the alleged murder of the Chief Executive Officer of Super TV, Usifo Ataga, was on Tuesday stalled sequel to the absence of a prosecution witness, DSP Olusegun Bamidele.
Ojukwu is standing trial before a Lagos High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
She is also charged with stealing and forgery alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu and one Adedapo Quadri.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Tuesday, the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Mrs Adenike Oluwafemi, told the court that the matter was for continuation of trial. Read more
Lagos bizman accuses pastor of fraud, spiritual attack (Punch)
A businessman, Kunle Akinbo, has told a Samuel Ilori Magistrate’s Court, Ogbà, Lagos, how his friend, Joel Oladipupo, allegedly defrauded him of the sum of N9m.
Akinbo also claimed that Oladipupo, a pastor, used charms to attack him when he demanded his money.
The defendant stood trial before Magistrate S.O. Obasa on Monday for allegedly failing to fulfil a contract agreement he had with Akinbo.

Lagos hoodlums brutalise politician fighting for children’s custody (Punch)
A politician, Hamisu Magaji, has demanded justice after hoodlums allegedly brutalised him on his way to a destination around Toyin Street, in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro gathered that Magaji was going to visit a relative in the area when the hoodlums allegedly attacked him with weapons.
However, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said Magaji was attempting to take custody of his four children when the matter degenerated.
Magaji said after the hoodlums allegedly brutalised him, some good Samaritans rushed him to a hospital. Read more
Thugs attack Jandor’s campaign train, journalists injured (Punch)
The campaign train of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, was reportedly attacked by thugs said to be armed with guns and other dangerous weapons.
The incident was said to have occurred while the convoy reached the Ikoga Junction area of Badagry Local Government.
This was disclosed in a statement made available to The PUNCH late on Sunday evening by the Lagos State PDP Publicity Secretary, Mr Hakeem Amode.

Imoh: Witness tells court how sound engineer was killed (Punch)
The trial of a motorcyclist rider, Dahiru Ayuba, and five others before a Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square, over the murder of a 37-year-old sound engineer, David Imoh, has commenced.
Imoh was allegedly murdered by Okada riders after an altercation on May 12, 2022, over N100.
Ayuba and others, Susan Moses, Chigozie Anthony, Christopher Dauda, Joseph Tella and Sunday Azi, are standing trial on six counts before Justice I. O. Harrison.
They were arraigned in July on six counts of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder and grievous harm, preferred against them by the Lagos State Government.
One-chance robbers kidnap Lagos commuter, steal life savings (Punch)
A woman, Olamide Azeez, has sought help after suspected one-chance robbers stole her life savings at Ikosi, in the Ketu area of Lagos State.
The victim said she boarded a cab from Toll Gate, Ikosi, while heading for work at Victroria Island around 6am on Friday, September 29, 2022.
She noted that no sooner had she entered the car than the assailants beat her up and robbed her of her ATM card.
“They made away with my life savings — all N910,000; my iPhone XR, N4,300 cash, earrings, wristwatch, and Oraimo EarPods,” she added. Read more
Court remands teenagers over murder of RCCG pastor (Punch)
A Lagos High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Thursday remanded two boys, Farouk Mohammed, 16, and Kasali Jamiu, 19, at the Special Correctional Centre for Boys, Oregun, and the Ikoyi Custodial Centre, respectively.
Justice Sherifat Sonaike remanded them after they were charged with the murder of a Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor, Babatunde Dada, 46.
The duo were first charged on January 12, 2022, before a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court alongside two others, Mumuni Toheeb, 21, and Mubarak Soliu, 20, for allegedly receiving a Spark S Techno phone valued at N60,000, property of the deceased.
On February 14, when the case came up, Chief Magistrate Olatunbosun Adeola said a prema facie case had been established against Mohammed and Jamiu. Read more
Lagos NSCDC intercepts drug dealers, recovers 101 bags of Cannabis sativa (Guardian)
The anti-vandal unit of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has intercepted five drug dealers, on the high sea, close to Ibeshe waterways, around Badagry axis, loaded with items suspected to be Cannabis sativa (Indian Hemp).
The Command’s spokesperson, Seun Abolurin, in a statement, yesterday, said the interception on Thursday, October 20, followed renewed efforts of Lagos State Command initiated by Commandant of Corps (CC), Edenabu Okoro Eweka, against all forms of economic sabotage and other kinds of criminality in Lagos State.
He said the team led by its Head of Unit (HOU), Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Musa Abdullahi Jibrin, intercepted the dealers of the illicit drugs, while on routine surveillance and patrol at the wee hours of Thursday, October 20, 2022.
According to him, the team noticed that the five suspects (all male ) sighted their uncompromising operational drive and immediately jumped into the water for safety and escape. Read more
Lagos NSCDC storms three illegal private guard companies, arrests offenders (Guardian)
The Private Guard Company (PGC) Department, of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has stopped three Illegal PGCs, as a result of the offence of quackery and other similar offences in the industry.
The Command’s spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC), Seun Abolurin, in a statement, yesterday, said the PGCs found this act of quackery, in the state, after thorough search and investigation. Those investigated include: Divine Assurance Security; Herisco Security and City Guard Limited.
He said the above investigation led to the arrest of one Lucky Ofuma (male), a supposed Managing Director, Divine Assurance Security and one of his employees, John Ambrose Vallah, ‘m’, as others had fled and deserted their premises, an act confirming their level of culpability.
According to him, officers and men of the PGC Department of the Command, headed by Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Eze Onyegbula, made this arrest with the help of actionable and credible intelligence from the good people of the state. Read more
