The Nigerian Army says farm produce has increased tremendously in Zamfara State more than in the past years as a result of the troop’s efforts to provide security to farmers.
The Commander One Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Gusau, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, made this revelation during a Juma’at prayer as part of activities to mark the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.
“It is on record that farm produce in Zamfara has increased this last farming season much more than what was obtained in the last ten years,” he said.
He pledged that the troops will continue to give their best in fighting security threats bedeviled the country to ensure Nigeria remains one indivisible entity.
Brigadier General Ahmed said that soldiers are exposed to a lot of dangers while escorting farmers to their farms and that many have fallen to the attacks from criminal elements. The Army chief, however, said the troops are spurred by the appreciation from the people they are protecting.
He reiterated the readiness of the Armed Forces to lay down their lives to protect defenceless Nigerians from enemies of the country. (Channels)
