The Ugandan government has announced its plans to begin the issuance of birth certificates to cows in the East African country.
This was made known by the country’s Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Mr Vincent Ssempijja who confirmed this while speaking at the official opening of the National Agricultural Show at the Source of the Nile grounds in Jinja.
The move is considered a proactive measure to ensure the traceability of products and benefit from the international market to local farmers, will have cows being issued birth certificates.
Speaking about the move, Ssempijja said:
“They (international market) want to know where the products are coming from; they have been impounding and banning all consignments from Uganda if they find one box with issues.” Read more
