Mukoma wa Ngügî, author of the recently released Unbury Our Dead With Song will Thursday, September 23 hold a conversation with Desta Haile, a creative multilingual British-Eritrean writer, educator and consultant with a background in intercultural communication, social justice and the performing arts.
According to an invitation sent out by Mukoma’s publisher, Cassava Republic Press, the event, a “virtual watch party” on YouTube, will take place at 19:00 BST/14:00 EST.
It is in conjunction with The Africa Centre and there is to be a Tizita performance by Temesgen.
In the novel he has described as his love letter to “music, beauty and imagination”, Mukoma wa Ngügî pays homage to Tizita music (African Blues).
Currently Mukoma is Associate Professor of English at Cornell University and resident of Ithaca, New York while Haile is is deputy director of the Royal African Society.
