Virgil Van Dijk has picked out Roberto Firmino as the greatest player he has played alongside ahead of his Liverpool teammates Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
Firmino has become an integral member of Jurgen Klopp’s attack in recent seasons but is generally the least-heralded of their attacking trio with both Mane and Salah more prolific in front of goal.
Nevertheless, the Brazilian is extremely well-regarded by his manager, teammates and Liverpool fans for his sheer work-rate and selfless style of play which frees up space for his colleagues.
The 27-year-old was not on the scoresheet as Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-1 but he delivered another excellent display and before the game Van Dijk hailed his qualities. Read more
