A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo has granted bail to a commissioner II at the Osun State Local Government Service Commission, Mr Olakunle Muhammed; and a businessman, Rasheed Bakare, who are standing trial in connection with alleged advanced fee fraud involving the Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly, Mr Timothy Owoeye. The police had arraigned Muhammed and Bakare on October 10 on the allegation of defrauding the lawmaker which led to the release of the nude video. Read more

Eight passengers rescued as 14-seater bus plunges into river (Punch)
No fewer than eight persons were rescued on Tuesday after a 14-seater Hiace bus plunged into a river in the Okogbe-Mbiama end of the East-West Road in the Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. The driver of the bus was said to have lost control, while the bus skidded off a flooded bridge before plunging into the river. Although local divers were still searching for other possible occupants of the vehicle, the bus had been reportedly recovered and taken to Akinima Police Station. Read more

Liberia’s government has said it is investigating a charity founded by a young American woman after allegations that a local staffer raped several girls in its care. UEFA has charged the Romanian soccer federation with fan misconduct for racist chants and banners at a Nations League game. UEFA says the “racist behavior” includes incidents targeting Romanian neighbor Hungary when the national team played to a 0-0 draw against Serbia on Sunday. Romania fans also held up a banner linking refugees to terrorism, and a video posted on social media showed fans chanting a slogan supporting Serbia’s territorial claim to Kosovo. Read more
Daughter sues dad for refusing her marriage (Nation)
A 20-year-old woman, Amina Hassan, yesterday took her father, Hassan Adamu, to a Sharia Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna for his refusal to allow her marry the man she loves. The woman, who lives with her grandmother on Bashama Road, Tudun Wada, Kaduna said through her lawyer, Ado Ali that she wanted the court to order her father to marry her off to her heartthrob. The complainant added that she had attained marriage age and would want to settle with the man she loved, but her father refused his assent. Read more
Auditor accused of embezzling N3.8m says it’s for her upkeep (Punch)
A 47-year-old woman, Grace Cole, has been arrested by the police for allegedly embezzling funds belonging to the company she works for. PUNCH Metro gathered that Cole was employed by Rab Oil Nigeria Limited as an auditor in 2011. It was learnt that in 2017, after an external auditing of the company’s branch offices, some amount of money was discovered missing. Read more
Man hacks brother to death in Edo (Punch)
The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Omorodion Sampson, for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death in the Egba area of Benin, the state capital. The suspect was alleged to have had an argument with the victim, who was identified as Imuetiyan Omorodion, before the incident occurred at Blessed Quarters, in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the state.
