Super Eagles’ defensive midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has urged his teammates to do more if they were to excel in this year’s Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) holding in Egypt. Ndidi posted a sterling performance that earned him the Total Man of the Match award against Burundi on Saturday.

The Leicester City of England player described the first half of the encounter as very poor because the Eagles gave too much room to the Swallows of Burundi to operate.“We didn’t start well; it was really poor in the first half and I think we can actually do better. Eventually, we did better in the second half but we still need to do more.

“The match was difficult because in the first half we allowed them to play more and they started gaining confidence and it was difficult for us to actually come back into the game,” he said, adding that the improved performance after the break gave them the 1-0 victory.

Meanwhile, the Executive General Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility of Total E&P Nigeria, Vincent Nnadi agrees that the game was a very tough one for the Eagles, adding, however, that his joy was that Nigeria triumphed eventually.
