Wedding photos: Sharia police moves against Buhari’s son’s fiancee (Tribune)
Kano State’s Sharia police, Hisbah, has prohibited the sharing of the pre-wedding photos of the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Nasir Ado Bayero, Zahrah, who is also the fiancee of Yusuf Buhari, son of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The pre-wedding photos exposed the shoulders of Zahrah and this has attracted a lot of criticisms among Northerners who consider the pre-wedding pictures as not in tandem with Islamic doctrine and the culture of the Hausa/Fulani.
Also, many critics faulted Hisbah for allowing such immoral behaviour from the daughter of the revered traditional ruler and future daughter-in-law of President Buhari.
They argued that Hisbah is saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and sanctioning people that violated Islamic laws in the state and as such, the Emir’s daughter should be called to order. Read more

It’s not easy coping with sexual harassment in Nollywood –Chioma Okoye (Sun)
Fast-rising actress, Chioma Okoye has reiterated that there are limits to what she can do for the camera.
In an encounter with Saturday Sun, the light-skinned screen diva insisted she wouldn’t play some roles no matter how enticing the fee could be. “There are some roles I would not take no matter the amount of money attached to it. I can’t act being naked in any form or being kissed horribly. I am not saying I can’t get kissed because that’s mostly what they act these days, but such scripts should be given to me days or weeks before acting. Also, I can’t act inside a coffin or allow my photo to appear on obituary posters because I am still alive,” she says.
Ms Okoye, however, lamented that her major challenges in Nollywood are sexual advances from randy producers. “The major challenges I have in Nollywood are sexual requests from randy producers. They come indirectly but I am no longer a child, I should be able to tell what a man wants. Asking you to be his girlfriend while also asking hundreds of girls at the same time is to me a terrible thing. So, copping with sexual. Read more

Jake Gyllenhaal doesn’t think bathing regularly is ‘necessary’ (NYPost)
When will Jake Gyllenhaal bathe next? Maybe the day after tomorrow.
The SoulCycle enthusiast isn’t a fan of post-workout showers — or washing in general.
“More and more I find bathing to be less necessary, at times,” Gyllenhaal, 40, told Vanity Fair Thursday while, believe it or not, promoting Prada’s Luna Rossa Ocean fragrance.
“I do believe, because Elvis Costello is wonderful, that good manners and bad breath get you nowhere. So I do that. But I do also think that there’s a whole world of not bathing that is also really helpful for skin maintenance, and we naturally clean ourselves.” Read more

It’s 3 p.m. on a beautiful Southern California day and Barbra Streisand is in bed. “I’m still in my nightie,” she says. “I love being in my bed.”
Of course, her dogs — Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett — are by her side. “They take their naps in my bed,” Streisand tells me on today’s episode of the “Just for Variety” podcast.
Leave it to Streisand to work from her boudoir. She’s promoting her new album, “Release Me 2,” a collection of 10 recordings from the EGOT winner’s vault that have never been released. On the recording that debuts Aug. 6, she sings “I’d Want It to Be You” with Willie Nelson on a recording that was first produced for her 2014 album “Partners.” “The Rainbow Connection” with Kermit the Frog was recorded in 1979. “I did it basically for my son [Jason Gould], who was a big fan of ‘The Muppet Movie’ and watched ‘Sesame Street,’” Streisand says of working with the late Jim Henson. “And he loved it.” Read more
