‘We’ll clear pending passport requests’ (Nation)

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has assured those worried by the scarcity of passport booklets that NIS will clear the backlog of applications for international passport.

Speaking in a telephone conversation yesterday with The Nation, NIS Comptroller General Mohammad Babandede, said thousands were either seeking new passports or renewal.

He said the backlog was due to plans by NIS to use new booklets to produce new electronic passports from April.

Babandede promised that the backlog would be cleared in a few days, as NIS had bought new booklets. Read more
