I got more than 10 Mummy GO memes, cartoons and videos in the last few days
I couldn’t help musing aloud; if Mummy GO had been a Muslim, would we still have peace in the land, especially with her Satan, devil, hellfire for virtually everyone messages?
But who is Mummy GO?
She is Evangelist Funmilayo Adebayo, founder of the Rapture Proclaimer Evangelical Church of God, located somewhere in Iyana Ipaja, Lagos state.
Why has she become a hot topic online?
Because of her hellfire messages. Nothing jolts people from their daily drudgery like messages that remind them they will go to hell simply by being themselves and the way Mummy GO sees it, the entire nation is hell bound, especially those sharing the memes and creating spinoffs.
Mummy GO is reported to have claimed that people who wear false lashes, jeans- both for men and women, short skirts, (only ankle length skirts are permitted), jewelry, dreadlocks, painted finger nails, beads, perfume…among many other mundane personal wears or accessories will go to hell!
While this is amusing, I wonder what would have happened if Mummy GO was real? As in her messages are true or even if she were a Muslim and declaring all of these as hell attracting items for faithful.
First off, let’s chew on the muslim line a bit.
I’m not sure Hisbah would’ve have welcomed her extremities. Yeah, even Hisbah will find her messages, derailing and totally un-Islamic. I think they would by now have sealed off her church and declared all her devotees as the ones who are truly hell bound… because remember she said men who wear long beards will go to hell!
Now, we all know that if there is any thing Muslim faithfuls want more than life, it’s to make paradise! So Mummy GO’s hell fire messages won’t receive any encouragement or even memes, it would’ve been “summarily dealt with…” military style…go and ask El Zakzaky and his followers.
Now, for a preacher constantly reminding everyone that everything they have taken for granted will take them to hell, I figure, Mummy GO herself would have been forced to flee the country…go and ask El Zakzaky, again. He’s such a cool example
But hey, this is not about being a Christian or Muslim, it’s about how charlatans, who claim to be faithfuls, make a mockery of the faith.
Our traditional belief system require adherents of the faith to be careful when invoking the gods…they don’t take nonsense from their devotees.
If they call the name of Sango, Oya or Ogun carelessly, like someone said, “there will be consequences and repercussions.”
But when it comes to the name of Jesus; people would be like, “let’s drag it across the streets of Galilee; nothing will happen.”
So here’s my thing, I’ve always said, God can fight His own battle; He can unmask the most devious of charlatans and lay them bare…when He is ready to.
Ask yourself, where’s Jesu Oyingbo?
What happened to Onyeze Jesus? And there are many names to recall that have fizzled out today. Names of preachers who claimed to be God Himself and preachers who claimed to know what the mind of God was; where are they today?
In His time, He will make all things known to man, whether Mummy GO is heaven sent or not; time will tell.
In the mean time, I think the name calling and false memes alluded to Mummy GO should stop.
Time will tell.
