The actress claimed she lost her calm and decided to defend for herself verbally after all efforts by people around to broker peace and make Larrit cease her verbal onslaught were frustrated. Which eventually resulted in the public fight.

2023: Cleric urges Tinubu to consider proficiency, not religion (Sun)
The chief servant of Salem Evangelical Church of Christ, Lagos State, Apostle Babatunde Odele, has urged presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu to not listen to people pointing at tribe and religion in choosing running mate but rather choose someone who has same ideology with him.
Odele, who was a two-time local government chairman in Mushin and Ifako-Ijaye under Sir Michael Otedola and Bola Tinubu respectively, stated this yesterday while addressing the press at the church premises in Lagos, added that restoring peace in the country is paramount.
Recounting how former military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, pressured him to maintain peace in Mushin during the 1993 general election.
“At that time, it was not religion that I was after but people. Babangida made it known to me that he would make a scapegoat out of me. For that reason, I turned not to religion but to people. I went to the slums and elite to seek help. I worked more with the Hausas and Igbos. The country is diversified but unified in purpose. If Tinubu chooses a Muslim that can work with him and keep the peace in the country, I don’t think the Christians would have a reason to lament,” he stated. Read more

Alaro City in partnership with the Lagos State Government has reinforced its commitment to its host community by providing nutritional packages and other resources needed by pregnant women in Epe Local Government.
The social responsibility project is under the auspice of the Mother, Infant and Child Initiative (MICHD).
Founded by the Office of Civic Engagement and Lagos State, MICHD is aimed at empowering 5,000 pregnant women in the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.
In a statement, the company described the initiative as a key component of the Womb to School Programme, a social investment basket initiated by the government Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to facilitate the development of human capital as well as raise socially responsible citizens from the womb through infancy, childhood, and adulthood. Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech) and King Ado Senior High School, Lagos Island have emerged winners of the debate and quiz competitions organised by the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST), Lagos State Chapter.
Yabatech emerged winner in the CBT Quiz for tertiary institutions’ which covered areas of fermentation, unit operations, and food engineering and toxicity, while King Ado Senior High School, Jankara, Lagos won in the secondary school’s category with the theme, “Food Processing and Preservation are Essential for National Development’.
The King Ado Senior School students, ably led by Mrs Atobatele Zainab, the 2018 inaugural winner of the Teach for Change Nigeria (TFCN) Teacher Prize for Literature, put up an outstanding performance scoring 88.53 % ahead of other participant schools like Oke-Odo Senior High School, Agege (84.67%), Ikorodu Senior High School (80.50%), Oregun Senior High School, Ikeja, Ansar-Ud-Deen Comprehensive Senior College, Ota and Mainland Senior High School, Fadeyi.

Attorneys General meet in Lagos over Paris Club refund, VAT, others (Channels)
The Attorneys General of the 36 states of the Federation will on Wednesday meet in Lagos to discuss some critical legal issues bordering on Value Added Tax, Paris Club Refunds, and Stamp Duty, among others.
The meeting, which is scheduled to hold from June 15-17 will have the Chairman of the Nigerian Southern Governors’ Forum and Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu delivering the keynote address at the opening session.
Other issues to be deliberated upon by the States Attorneys General are the proposed amendments to the stamp duties act, pensions and gratuity for judges, and amendments to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999) as amended.
Other critical legal issues to be discussed at the meeting are the state Anti-Corruption Commission established by states and the FIRS threat to recovering “unremitted tax deductions by states” and local governments. Read more
Buhari meets APC govs in Aso Rock (Punch)
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), Tuesday, met behind closed doors with governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Although the governors declined to speak with the media after the meeting, it is believed to be in connection with last-minute hunting for a running mate for the party’s standard-bearer, Bola Tinubu.
The Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, led the governors to the meeting.

Customer, friends lynch, burn Lagos sex worker for keeping Quran in room (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command has charged three suspects to court for allegedly beating a prostitute, Hannah Saliu, to death and setting her corpse ablaze for keeping the Holy Quran in her room.
PUNCH Metro gathered that one of the suspects patronised Saliu and after having sex with her, he reportedly paid her N1,000 for the service.
The customer was said to have left her room when she suddenly discovered that her N5,000 had gone missing.
She reportedly ran after the customer and accused him of stealing her money. Read more
Persons with albinism call for special medical centres (DailyTrust)
Persons with albinism in Nasarawa State have appealed for the establishment of special medical centres across the country to provide care and free treatment for those suffering from the condition.
Speaking during a visit to their homes in Akwanga and Lafia LGAs, they said the absence of treatment centres in the state had exposed them to skin cancer infections and other challenges.
The chairman, Nasarawa State Association of Persons with Albinism, Mr John Maigwa, said most of them found it difficult to purchase chemicals, soaps and other things needed to protect their skin leading to deaths among them.
He called on the state government to initiate a special scheme targeted at providing care for persons with albinism, particularly the less privileged. Read more

Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) has declared political war on Igbo delegates who voted against aspirants from South East at the just-concluded presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The group x-rayed the height of betrayal and sabotage by what it described as “a few microscopic political elements to enslave the present and future generations of Igbo extraction, the council resolved that lgbo land is not a habitable for all these enemies of Ndigbo.”
Addressing reporters yesterday in Owerri, the Imo State capital after the council’s meeting, OYC national president, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, lamented on how Southeast delegates sold the future of their children and unborn generation in the course of the recently concluded primary elections of the leading parties in the country.
The council, therefore, insisted on what it termed “political and ballot revolution in the South-East region and Nigeria in general”, saying “we therefore give PDP and APC delegates in 2022 presidential, apart from 14 PDP delegates from Ebonyi, 38 APC delegates from Ebonyi and one APC delegate vote that came from Imo State voted by Prof. Chinwe Obaji, all the others should vacate from Igbo land within 72 hours.”

The Rolling Stones have been forced to cancel a show in Amsterdam after Sir Mick Jagger tested positive for coronavirus.
The legendary band, which also features guitarists Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, with Steve Jordan on drums, are on their “Sixty” tour, which consists of 14 shows in 10 countries across Europe.
Frontman Sir Mick, 78, began to develop Covid symptoms as he arrived at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in the Dutch capital on Monday (June 13).
A statement on behalf of the band said: “The Rolling Stones have been forced to call off tonight’s concert in Amsterdam at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, following Mick Jagger testing positive after experiencing symptoms of Covid upon arrival at the stadium. Read more

‘One Punch Man’ anime getting live-action movie adaptation directed by Justin Lin (NME)
Justin Lin has been tapped to direct a live-action adaptation of the hit Japanese manga and anime series One Punch Man.
As Deadline reports, the upcoming film looks to kick off a potential franchise. A cast and release date have yet to be announced.
One Punch Man follows the adventures of Saitama, a superhero who is able to defeat anyone with a single punch and seeks a worthy opponent. The series got its start in 2009 as a webcomic before going viral and being adapted into a manga series in 2012. The series then received an anime adaptation, spawning two seasons in 2015 and 2019.
The live-action One Punch Man adaptation will be written by Jumanji: The Next Level’s Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker, with Lin reportedly planning for a rewrite and for production to begin by the end of the year. The film was first ordered in April 2020. Read more

During a Tribeca Film Festival Q&A on Monday with Gayle King, the Academy Award honoree, 52, opened up about the “very difficult” experience of being friends with both actors after Smith, 53, infamously smacked Rock, 57, at the 94th Academy Awards.
“There’s a difference between comforting and deescalating, that’s number one,” Perry said, recounting: “And I left early to get to Chris to make sure he was okay. Being friends with both of them has been very difficult.”

Lady Gaga is in early negotiations to join “Joker: Folie à Deux” as Joker’s partner-in-madness, Harley Quinn, for what would be a musical sequel to director Todd Phillips’ 2019 blockbuster.
Speculation that Harley Quinn would appear in the movie first bubbled to the surface after Phillips posted the cover of the screenplay to Instagram on June 7. The subtitle, Folie à Deux, refers to a shared delusional disorder, and Joker’s only real companion — other than Batman, anyway — has been Quinn, a character first created for “Batman: The Animated Series” in the early 1990s.

Yellowstone: Iconic US park closed for 1st time in 34 years (AlJazeera)
All five entrances to Yellowstone National Park in the United States have been closed after record floods triggered by heavy rain and glacier melt destroyed roads and bridges and inundated nearby communities.
The entire park, spanning parts of the western states of Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, will be closed to visitors including those with lodging and camping reservations, at least until Wednesday as officials inspect the damage, the park superintendent said on Monday.
It is the first time all five park entrances have been closed to visitors since a series of devastating wildfires in 1988.
The National Park Service (NPS) said it was working to evacuate visitors and staff remaining at various locations, especially in the hardest-hit northern part of the iconic park. Read more

Serena Williams will play later this month at Wimbledon, which has awarded a wild-card invitation to the 23-time Grand Slam winner.
Williams, who hasn’t competed since injuring her right leg last year at Wimbledon, strongly hinted at a return to the grass-court Grand Slam earlier Tuesday in an Instagram post.
The All England Club announced that Williams, 40, was among the six women given a wild-card spot in the singles draw.

Team Mushin players tackled Team Ikorodu effectively as co-employees, friends and other spectators added zest to the outing by cheering with much fanfare but at the end, it was the Ikorodu side that triumphed 4-2 to clinch this year’s coveted trophy.

‘I’m no hero,’ says dancing keeper as Australia qualify for World Cup (National)
Substitute goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne’s dancing antics helped Australia claim a shootout win over Peru in an inter-continental playoff on Monday but he said he was no hero, only playing his part as they claimed a fifth straight World Cup appearance.
The 33-year-old journeyman was brought on for his third cap with three minutes to play at the end of extra time and stopped the last kick as the Socceroos won 5-4 on penalties after the match ended goalless.
“He’s a very good penalty saver and I did something that could affect them mentally,” coach Graham Arnold explained at the post-match news conference.

Honduras downs Canada 2-1 in CONCACAF Nations League play (USAToday)
Kevin Lopez and Kervin Arriaga scored to lead Honduras past Canada 2-1 in the CONCACAF Nations League on Monday night.
Lopez scored in the 13th minute in a steady rain at Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano. There was a splash when the ball hit the saturated grass in the back of the net and puddles were visible in spots on the field.
Arriaga put Honduras ahead 2-0 in the 78th minute.
Jonathan David’s goal in the 86th appeared to give Canada new life, but in stoppage time, Alistair Johnston was sent off with a second yellow, and three other players were also shown yellow cards. Read more
