Chiemerie Nmadu, brother to late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu has revealed why her late sister refused to divorce her husband, Peter Nwachukwu despite the abuse.
According to Chiemerie, Osinanchi decided to stay in her abusive marriage because she doesn’t want her followers to perceive her as a divorced minister and avoid people seeing her in that light.
Chiemerie who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday accused Peter Nwachukwu of killing Osinachi slowly before she finally passed on.
He said, “I know Osinachi very well. She is very quiet and God-fearing. She was going through all these and she refused to tell me because I would have known what to do.
“She was just hiding all these things so people will not talk about her and say she is divorced. So, the man was dealing with her and she was dying slowly.”
Also, the mother of the late singer, Oriaku Nmadu had also revealed that her daughter, Osinachi did not divorce her husband because she believed in the biblical injunction that marriage is for better and for worse.
Speaking with members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists in Abia State (NAWOJ), Osinachi’s mother said her daughter endured the troubled marriage believing that her husband, Peter Nwachukwu will change.
She said, “Osinachi believed in the biblical injunction that says marriage is for better for worse, and that was why she endured the marriage thinking that Peter Nwachukwu will change but unfortunately, my daughter died”.He had reported a case of culpable homicide to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police against Nwachukwu, which led to his arrest on April 10.
