A 38-year-old woman, Temitope Usidamen, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly stealing N5,897,300,00.
Usidamen, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge of stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, DSP Gbemileke Agoi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Feb. 2015 to March 2023 at Baytod Nursery and Primary School, Yewa, Isawo in Owutu area of Ikorodu.
Agoi said the defendant stole N5, 897,300.00 belonging to Mr Akin Oyemakinde.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 stipulates three years jail term for stealing if found guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. B. Olagbegi-Adelabu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She said that the address of the surety must be verified.Olagbegi-Adelabu adjourned the case until June 26 for mention (NAN)
