A 47-year-old woman, Oluwafunmilayo Akanbi, was on Thursday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly being in possession of two stolen iron window guards.
The police charged Akanbi with conspiracy and receiving stolen property, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Victor Eruada, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 13, at 11.00 a.m. at No. 115, Agbado Road, Toyin, Iju-Ishaga, Lagos.
He alleged that the property belonging to the complainant, one Amina Dosumu, were found in custody of the defendant.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant conspired with some others, now at large, to receive the two pieces of iron window guards knowing same to be stolen property.
The two pieces of the iron window guards are valued at N5,000.
The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 328 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs T. A Oladele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 6 for mention. (NAN)
