Jealous Lagos woman kills pregnant co-wife (Punch)
A 42-year-old woman, Fatima Rahman, from Chad Republic has been remanded to the Ikoyi Custodial Centre for the alleged murder of her co-wife, Adizat, at her residence in Alejo Street, Ijede, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
Fatima was arraigned on Tuesday before Magistrate P. E Nwaka at a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba on one count of murder.
She was said to have been angry when she learnt that her husband had married another wife. Read more
53-year-old father of seven stabbed to death in Lagos (Punch)
A 53-year-old Olalekan Okeowo has been stabbed to death in an uncompleted building at Salvation Estate in the Owode community, Ajah area of Lagos State.
The deceased left behind seven children, including a seven-month-old set of twins.

Man stabs co-worker to death (Punch)
A Yaba Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded one Nyagh Isaiah for the alleged murder of his co-worker, Kingsley Kator, in the Mushin area of Lagos State.
The 35-year-old was remanded by Magistrate P.E Nwaka on one count of murder.
According to the prosecution, Thomas Nurudeen, the defendant committed the crime on April 9, 2023, around 1pm in the Ojuelegba area of Lagos State. Read more
Homeless man steals vehicle parts, others (Punch)
A 26-year-old man, Haruna Usman, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ogba Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ikeja area of Lagos State for allegedly stealing items valued at N220,000 in the Magodo area of the state.
The stolen items include an alternator, glass cutting machine and assorted electrical wire.
Usman, who was charged with two counts of stealing, pleaded not guilty.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 14, 2023, around 4.10pm at Magodo Phase 1, Lagos State. Read more
Court remands Lagos driver over bus-train crash (Punch)
The driver of the Lagos State Government staff bus that recently collided with a train, Oluwaseun Osibanjo, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ikeja High Court.
The collision, which occurred on March 9 at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, the state capital, left six persons dead and others injured and hospitalised across government hospitals in the state.
The bus, which had employees of the state government on board, was then dragged by the train that eventually came to a stop in the Sogunle area of the state.
Mob attacks man for vandalising vehicles in Lagos (Punch)
An unidentified man has been attacked by a mob in the Victoria Island of Lagos State for allegedly vandalising vehicles on A.J. Marinho Drive.
The man was accused of stealing side mirrors from vehicles parked on the street on Tuesday, when he was caught, pursued and beaten.
A security man, identified only as Ali, said vandalising of vehicles had become a norm in the area. Read more
Lagos publishes 3 sex offenders’ details (Punch)
The Lagos State Government on Monday published the details of three adult males convicted for different sexual offences in the state.
Their identities were made known via the official Twitter handle of the state Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, @Lagosdsva.
The agency, in the message tagged “Justice has been served,” said it was giving an “update on publication of details of sex convicts as maintained by Lagos State.” Read more
Man impregnates 14-year-old girl in Lagos (Punch)
A 24-year-old man, Jacob Ekene, was on Thursday remanded to the Ikoyi Correctional Center for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 14-year-old girl at her aunt’s residence in the Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
Ekene, who was arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, rape, and inflicting bodily harm, was remanded by Magistrate P. E. Nwaka at a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos State.
Ekene was said to have carried out the act with his friend, Olamilekan Saidi.
Land grabbers injure Lagos farmer, destroy poultry (Punch)
A Lagos-based farmer, Ezenwa Ikenna, is currently nursing the wounds he sustained in the hands of some hoodlums suspected to be land grabbers shop stormed his polity located in the FESTAC area of Lagos State last Sunday.
PUNCH Metro gathered on Sunday that the machete-wielding assailants stormed Ikenna’s poultry located at Sixth Avenue, FESTAC town, injured him and smashed the glasses in his farmhouse.

Lagos man defiles 6-year-old girl (Punch)
An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State, on Thursday, remanded a 34-year-old man, John Agbo at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl, with his finger in the Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos State.
Magistrate E. Kubenje made the order after the defendant, who is facing one count of sexual assault preferred against him by the police, was arraigned.
The police prosecutor, Kehinde Ajayi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2022. Read more
Couple fake kidnap to extort UK relatives (Punch)
The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested a couple for allegedly planning to extort N5m from their relatives.
The command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday.
Hundeyin said the husband, a 53-year-old technician and wife, a 48-year-old body massager and bone setter, were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, after a family member of the man reported the purported kidnap. Read more
Lagos doctor, Olaleye, denies wife’s sexual assault allegation (Punch)
The Medical Director of Optimal Cancer Foundation, Dr Olufemi Olaleye, who is standing trial over alleged sexual assault of his wife’s 16-year-old niece on Friday, told the Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court sitting in Ikeja that the allegation against him was fabricated by his wife, Remi.
Olaleye stated this while he was giving evidence in his own defence.
The defendant who was led in evidence by his counsel, Babatunde Ogala (SAN), said he had been married to Oluremi for 12 years and the marriage produced two children, aged eight and 12 years. Read more
Immigration foils attempts to traffick minors (Nation)
Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) operatives attached to the Alimosho Passport Office have foiled attempts by a suspected human trafficking ring to take two underage girls out of the country, The Nation learnt yesterday.
It was gathered that the alleged trafficker had taken the girls to the passport office claiming they were her daughters in a bid to procure international passports for them.
But the eagle-eyed officers, who could not reconcile the woman’s age with those of the two girls she claimed she birthed, queried her submissions for further investigation and it turned out the girls were allegedly recruited by her to be shipped abroad for exploitation. Read more
Drug consignments seized at Lagos airport, seaport (Nation)
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have seized 126 parcels of Canadian Loud, a synthetic strain of cannabis, weighing 63 kilograms concealed in a used Toyota Corolla car imported from Toronto, Canada at the Tincan port in Lagos.
Babafemi also said an attempt by a freight agent, Mordi Chukwuemeka Samuel, to export 900 grams of the same substance hidden inside walls of a travelling bag containing food items, to Kenya, was thwarted by NDLEA officers at the SAHCO export shed, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Saturday, April 29.
According to the statement, when Mordi presented the bag, which he claimed contained food items for export, operatives in the course of searching the consignment, noticed that the side walls of the bag were unevenly bloated, after which they dismantled the false packings and recovered the illicit substance.
Lagos CP removes DPO for misconduct (Nation)
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa, has ordered the immediate removal of the Divisional Officer in charge of Mushin as well as disciplinary actions against some of the personnel there over alleged professional misconduct.
Owohunwa gave the directive after he personally interviewed parties in an alleged assault case filed by a woman, Omolara, against a popular businessman, known as Bebex at Ladipo Market.
Omolara had taken to social media to cry out for justice over an alleged assault meted out to her by Bebex for refusing his love advances. Read more
