Frontline politician and former presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has raised fresh concerns over the growing threat of plastic pollution, describing it as a โ€œsilent but dangerous invaderโ€ of homes, oceans, and even the global food chain.

In a goodwill message to mark this yearโ€™s World Environment Day, personally signed by him, Olawepo-Hashim aligned with the theme of the event, โ€œPlastic Pollution and What We Can Do to Tackle It,โ€ noting that it serves as a call to action for individuals, communities, and governments alike.

โ€œWe are reminded of our shared responsibility to protect the planet that sustains us all,โ€ he stated.

He noted that plastic waste posed a grave threat to public health, wildlife, and the delicate balance of ecosystems, warning that Nigeria is not insulated from the dangers.

โ€œFrom clogged drainage systems in our cities to polluted waterways in our rural communities, the evidence of plastic pollution is everywhere,โ€ he said. (Guardian)
