Barcelona icon Xavi has revealed his honest opinion of Jose Mourinho’s ‘defensive’ tactics at Manchester United, admitting that he ‘doesn’t enjoy’ the manager’s style.
Mourinho is under intense scrutiny at United after only five wins in all competitions since the start of the season but a spirited comeback victory over Newcastle followed by a draw away at Chelsea have eased the pressure slightly.
While United’s poor results have been the main reason for the criticism Mourinho has faced, his negative approach has infuriated club legends such as Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand.
And it appears Xavi, who faced Mourinho several times when the Portuguese was in charge at Real Madrid, has a similar view of the manager’s philosophy.
‘Mourinho is a very defensive manager and playing against his Inter hasn’t been easy,’ the ex-Spain midfielder told Corriere dello Sport.
