Xherdan Shaqiri has becomes the third Liverpool star to test positive for coronavirus, the Switzerland Football Association has confirmed.
The 28-year-old’s team-mates, Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane, are already self-isolating after it was confirmed last week that the pair had contracted the disease.
Shaqiri has featured only once for Jurgen Klopp’s side this season, against Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup last month, and was not included in the squad for Sunday’s match at Aston Villa where the champions suffered a humiliating 7-2 defeat.
The overwhelming majority of Klopp’s squad have now joined up with their national teams and with so much travel and mixing involved, the probability of more positive tests will no doubt increase.
Klopp voiced his concerns last Friday and fears his players are being subjected to an unmanageable workload. (Metro)
